MORE ABOUT RUNNING IN NUREMBERG
The most popular running loop is the roughly eight-kilometer path around the Wöhrder See. Flat and green throughout, the Pegnitzgrund cuts straight across the city — ideal for long, level runs. The Volkspark Dutzendteich at Luitpoldhain offers loops of roughly three to five kilometers. If you're after soft trails with a bit of elevation, head to the Reichswald, the large forest belt encircling the city; for something short and central, there's the Stadtpark just north of the old town.
Groups meet in nearly every neighborhood — in the Altstadt, in Gostenhof, St. Johannis, Wöhrd, or the gardens behind the Kaiserburg (Veste). Each group lists when, where, and how fast they run ahead of time. Many meetups are free and explicitly welcome beginners. Just how much Nuremberg loves to run together showed at the 2025 B2Run, where around 20,000 runners from more than 600 companies streamed into the Max-Morlock-Stadion.
Pick a group in your neighborhood and show up for the next event. The best thing about running in Nuremberg isn't your company-run time — it's the regular loop around the Wöhrder See with people who simply enjoy running together. Find your people and get started.
