A HYROX season doesn't follow the calendar year; it runs from autumn to June. So a search for "HYROX races 2026" really spans two seasons: the races up to June 2026 are over, and everything from September 2026 onwards already belongs to the 2026/27 season. Karlsruhe (1–4 October) and Geneva (9–11 October) opened the season in the region and have already taken place.

The races in detail

Hamburg: the Elite Series opener

HYROX was founded in Hamburg in 2017, and this season its home city hosts the most important race in the German-speaking region: the 2026/27 HYROX Elite Series opens at Hamburg Messe from 28 October to 1 November (source: hyrox.com, INTERSPORT HYROX Hamburg). Age-group racers compete in Hall B6, while the Elite 15 and the new Challenger division race in Hall B5 – singles on Friday 30 October, doubles on Saturday 31 October. That makes Hamburg the only Elite Series race in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The ticket shop opened on 11 June, and by mid-October every Open singles and Open doubles slot was gone. Shortly before the race, HYROX released more places: as of 23 October, the shop has places in the women's and Pro categories, while Open Men is sold out. A singles entry costs €119, doubles €114 and relay €75 per person; spectators pay €15 per day and children under 12 go free (source: HYROX ticket shop Hamburg).

Düsseldorf: the first HYROX in a stadium

Düsseldorf is new to the calendar and arrives with a first: from 11 to 15 November, HYROX takes place inside a stadium for the first time, at the Merkur Spiel-Arena, home of Fortuna Düsseldorf (source: hyrox.com, EDEKA HYROX Düsseldorf). On 13 November, the POWWOW Sports Festival runs right next door at Arena Sportpark, with talks and masterclasses featuring HYROX co-founder Moritz Fürste among others. The U78 light-rail line takes you straight from the main station to the arena.

Düsseldorf has nothing left: the shop opened on 15 July, and as of 23 October every race entry is gone, including Pro Women on Friday, which was still available on 15 October. A singles entry costs €129 here, doubles €124 per person and relay €75 per person. Spectator tickets at €15 are still available (source: HYROX ticket shop Düsseldorf). If you still want to race, your only option is a returned ticket. Schedule, venue and spectator details are in our HYROX Düsseldorf event listing.

Frankfurt: a December race at the Messe

Germany's last race of the year runs from 10 to 13 December in Hall 3.1 at Messe Frankfurt (source: hyrox.com, Fitness First HYROX Frankfurt). Tickets went fast here too: since sales opened on 29 July, Open singles, Pro Men and Pro Women, most doubles and the women's and mixed relays have sold out. As of 23 October, the regular tickets still on sale are Doubles Men on Friday, the men's relay on Friday and Adaptive Women, plus charity places in many categories (more on that under Tickets below). Prices match Hamburg: €119 singles, €114 doubles, €75 relay per person (source: HYROX ticket shop Frankfurt).

Basel and Vienna: two races in February

February 2027 brings two races a week apart. Basel races from 12 to 14 February in Hall 1.0 at Messe Basel (source: hyrox.com, HYROX Basel). The shop opened on 2 September, and six weeks later almost every category is gone – only the men's relay and the Adaptive divisions remain, plus charity places for Pro Women. Nothing had changed by 23 October. Prices are in Swiss francs: CHF 129 singles, CHF 124 doubles, CHF 80 relay per person.

Vienna follows a week later, from 19 to 21 February, in Hall A of Messe Wien on Trabrennstraße (source: hyrox.com, INTERSPORT HYROX Vienna). Sales opened on 21 October 2026 at 12:00 Vienna time. As of 23 October, every category is available, from Open and Pro to doubles and relay: €119 singles, €114 doubles, €75 relay per person, spectators €15 (source: HYROX ticket shop Vienna). Given how quickly Basel went, it pays not to wait too long.

Cologne: HYROX at FIBO

Cologne closes the regional calendar from 8 to 11 April 2027, once again during FIBO, the fitness trade fair held at Koelnmesse every spring. Racing takes place in Hall 10.1, East Entrance (source: hyrox.com, all inclusive Fitness HYROX Cologne). The East Entrance is close to Köln Messe/Deutz station, which is served by S-Bahn and regional trains. The April 2026 edition had around 13,000 starters, according to the results service hyresult.com.

Ticket sales for Cologne haven't started yet; hyrox.com only says "Ticket sales start soon", with no date. For the other races this season, the shop opened four to five and a half months before race day, which would put Cologne in November or December 2026. That's our estimate based on the pattern, not an official date. For everything else running-related in the city, see our running events in Cologne.

Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart: no date yet

If you're hoping to race in Berlin, Munich or Stuttgart, you'll have to wait. As of 15 October 2026, none of the three cities is on the official 2026/27 calendar (source: hyrox.com, Find my Race). Berlin last hosted a race in May 2026, Stuttgart in autumn 2025. Some race-calendar sites already list 2027 dates for Berlin or Hamburg, but these are guesses based on the previous year, not confirmed dates. From southern Germany, Basel and Frankfurt are the closest options; from Berlin and the north, Hamburg.

Tickets: when sales open and what an entry costs

Entries are sold only through the official ticket shops linked from hyrox.com. HYROX announces the sale date for each race; this season, sales opened between 119 and 163 days before race day. Open singles usually go first: in Hamburg, Open Men from Wednesday to Saturday had sold out no more than twelve weeks after sales opened (source: inspiredbysports.com, 8 September 2026), and in Basel every Open and doubles category was gone after six weeks.

What an entry costs per person this season:

  • Singles (Open and Pro): €119 in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Vienna, €129 in Düsseldorf, CHF 129 in Basel
  • Doubles: €114, or €124 in Düsseldorf and CHF 124 in Basel – each partner pays for their own place
  • Relay: €75 per person, CHF 80 in Basel
  • Spectators: €15 per day, children under 12 free, advance sale only

A service fee is added on top. Worth knowing before you book: tickets can't be moved to another race, another season or another division. If you want flexibility, add the Flex option: "Flex Lite" (€12.50) lets you change the name on the ticket until the day before, while "Flex" (€25 singles, €45 team) also gets you a full refund up to 31 days before and half back up to 7 days before (source: hyroxdach.com, FAQ; hyrox.com, Düsseldorf event page). Your exact start time is published about three days before the race and can't be changed.

Charity tickets ("Race for Impact") are a slightly cheaper option: in Frankfurt and Vienna, a singles entry costs €79 and doubles €74 per person. In return, you commit to fundraising at least €300 for singles, €500 for doubles and €800 for a relay, each as a team (source: hyrox.com, Race for Impact). Charity places are sometimes still available after the regular tickets have gone: in Frankfurt, as of 23 October, they are on sale in many categories.

How a HYROX race works

A HYROX race is eight rounds of a 1 km run followed by one workout station – 8 km of running and eight stations in total, always in the same order (source: HYROX Rulebook Singles 2026/27). The stations and loads for Open Women, Open Men and Pro Men:

Station Distance Open Women Open Men / Pro Women Pro Men
1. SkiErg 1,000 m – – –
2. Sled Push 50 m 102 kg 152 kg 202 kg
3. Sled Pull 50 m 78 kg 103 kg 153 kg
4. Burpee Broad Jumps 80 m – – –
5. Rowing 1,000 m – – –
6. Farmers Carry 200 m 2 × 16 kg 2 × 24 kg 2 × 32 kg
7. Sandbag Lunges 100 m 10 kg 20 kg 30 kg
8. Wall Balls 100 reps 4 kg 6 kg 9 kg

Sled weights include the sled. Wall ball targets are 2.70 m for women and 3.00 m for men (source: HYROX Rulebook Singles 2026/27).

Open is the right category for a first race; Pro is for experienced athletes and comes with heavier loads. You need to be at least 16 on race day. Loads are unchanged from last season, but the rules got stricter: since 2026/27, failing to complete a station means disqualification rather than a time penalty (source: HYROX Rulebook Singles 2025/26 and 2026/27).

How long it takes depends heavily on the category. HYROX doesn't publish official averages. An analysis of around 710,000 public results from the 2025/26 season puts the median finish at 1:27:49 for Open Men and 1:36:08 for Open Women, and in doubles at 1:16:16 (men), 1:28:16 (women) and 1:23:06 (mixed) (source: roxhype.com, HYROX Time Benchmarks). According to HYROX, more than 98 per cent of starters reach the finish.

HYROX for runners and run clubs

Half the race is running

HYROX isn't a running race, but running decides it. Researchers from the German Sport University Cologne and universities in Düsseldorf, Wuppertal and Bielefeld analysed almost 40,000 Pro and Elite results from the first seven seasons. They found that the eight running kilometres consistently account for around 50 per cent of total race time, and that running performance is more closely tied to the final time than any other part of the race (source: Rappelt et al., Frontiers in Physiology, 8 July 2026).

Both scenes are growing at the same time. According to Strava's 2025 Year in Sport report, the number of running clubs on the platform more than tripled (source: Strava Year in Sport 2025). At Urban Sports Club, HYROX check-ins rose 92 per cent in a year; Germany accounts for 91 per cent of them, and Berlin and Cologne together make up three quarters of the German check-ins (source: Urban Sports Club, HYROX trend report, 14 October 2026). And the two scenes overlap: HYROX gyms start their own run clubs, and in Hamburg, HYROX itself hosts an open run club and a shake-out run during race week (source: hyroxdach.com, Haus of HYROX Hamburg). Run clubs are opening up to the format too – one example from the Rhineland: OACE Club Cologne meets on Thursdays for a run at Iron and Soul and also invites members to events in other sports such as HYROX, as does OACE Club Düsseldorf.

Doubles and relay: formats for training partners

For a run club, the team formats are the obvious way in. In doubles, two people run all eight kilometres together and split the station work however they like. Run off ahead and you get a one-minute penalty; whoever isn't working has to stay on their feet (source: HYROX Rulebook Doubles 2026/27). It suits two people who already run the same pace at their weekly club run.

In the relay, four of you start together; each person runs two kilometres and takes on two stations, and you decide the split. There are women's, men's and mixed relays, with two women and two men in a mixed team (source: HYROX Rulebook Relay 2026/27). For anyone trying HYROX for the first time, it's the easiest option – and at €75 per person, also the cheapest.

How to prepare as a runner

As a runner, you already bring half the race time with you. The gap lies elsewhere: a kilometre after the sled push or the lunges feels very different from one in training. Coaches therefore recommend combination sessions – short running intervals alternated directly with strength work, for example 800 m running, 20 wall balls, then another 800 m (source: Red Bull, HYROX Training Guide). Runner's World estimates eight to twelve weeks of preparation for a HYROX race. If you're training for a marathon at the same time, cut your running volume by 30 to 40 per cent rather than simply stacking HYROX sessions on top (source: Runner's World, "Marathon oder HYROX", 6 August 2026).

For the running sessions themselves, our guides to interval training and recovery will help. And if you're looking for people to train with, you'll find run clubs in Cologne and Düsseldorf, so you don't have to log the running kilometres alone. You might even find your relay team there.
