SportScheck RUN 2027: all cities, dates and distances

SportScheck, the German sporting goods retailer, bills its SportScheck RUN as "Germany's biggest city run series" (source: sportscheck.com, RUN). Behind the name are six events in six cities that look alike at first: same organiser, same shirt instead of a race bib, same pricing model. Look closer and they are very different outings – a Sunday-morning half marathon in Munich has little in common with a 10K that starts at 10:30 pm in Hanover. This guide covers what the series shares, where the cities differ and which one fits which goal. All details as of 3 October 2026.

All dates for 2026 and 2027

SportScheck has published four dates for 2027. Berlin and Nuremberg are still on the calendar for October 2026; their 2027 dates have not been announced yet (source: sportscheck.com, RUN).

Hamburg, Munich and Hanover have their own pages with course, schedule and a look back at 2026: SportScheck RUN Hamburg, SportScheck RUN Munich and SportScheck RUN Hanover. Cologne, Berlin and Nuremberg are covered briefly below.

What every city has in common

The shirt is your bib. There is no classic race number. Everyone wears the official shirt, made by Brooks in 2026; it is your entry ticket and gives you access to aid stations on the course and at the finish (source: sportscheck.com, RUN). Run without it and you are not officially in the race.

Timing on your shoe. TimeMotion times the races with a single-use transponder you attach to your laces; your own chip is not allowed, and the kids' and toddler runs are untimed (source: sportscheck.com, SportScheck Runs help pages).

Pick-up in the store. Race packs are handed out in the local SportScheck store, and on race day in the start/finish area until one hour before your start. Munich is the exception (source: sportscheck.com, RUN). Teams of seven or more collect together and announce this by email beforehand (source: sportscheck.com, help pages).

Race-day extras. According to the 2027 guides there are pacers with flags by target time, a warm-up before the start, a medal for every finisher and water plus isotonic drinks on the course. One quirk is the "award ceremony for everyone": pre-drawn placings such as 1,234th win a prize, on top of the top three women and men by gun time (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hanover 2027).

One pricing model for all cities

Entry fees for 2027 follow the same structure in Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Hanover. There are three tiers: Super Early Bird until eight months before the event, Early Bird until four months before, Regular after that (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo 2027).

Distance Super Early Bird Early Bird Regular
Kids RUN €8 €9 €10
5K (Hamburg: 7.5 km) €36 €42 €48
10K (Hamburg: 15 km) €48 €54 €60
Half marathon (Hamburg, Munich) €66 €72 €78

Source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Hanover 2027. Members of the SportScheck Club pay 20% less; Premium members run for free, according to the help pages (sources: Starterinfo 2027; sportscheck.com, help pages).

Because the tiers depend on the distance to race day, they expire at different times in each city. By that logic Super Early Bird ends in Hamburg as early as mid-October 2026, in Munich in early November and in Cologne and Hanover in January 2027. On 3 October 2026 all four cities still showed "from €36" (source: sportscheck.com, ticket shop).

Two rules worth knowing before you buy: tickets are not refunded if you cannot make it, but you can transfer them to someone else. Switching distance only works to an equally priced or cheaper one (source: sportscheck.com, help pages).

How the cities differ

Evening or morning. Four of the six events take place in the evening. In Hanover the last 10K starts at 10:30 pm, in Hamburg the 7.5 km at 10 pm, in Cologne the 10K at 9 pm (sources: Starterinfo 2027). Munich and Nuremberg are Sunday-morning events; in Munich the half marathon starts at 8 am (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Munich 2027).

Distances. There is a half marathon in Munich, Berlin and Nuremberg – and, for the first time in 2027, in Hamburg, where it is billed as "new" (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027). Hamburg also runs 7.5 and 15 km instead of 5 and 10, because one lap of the Outer Alster lake sets the rhythm. Hanover splits both distances into a RUN and a SpeedRUN with separate start slots (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hanover 2027).

Size. The 2026 result lists show how different the fields are (finishers over the adult distances according to the result lists, rounded):

City 2026 Finishers Breakdown
Munich, 5 July c. 13,900 Half marathon c. 6,200 · 10K c. 5,400 · 5K c. 2,300
Hanover, 18 September c. 6,200 10K c. 2,400 + 500 SpeedRUN · 5K c. 3,000 + 200 SpeedRUN
Hamburg, 19 June c. 3,500 7.5 km c. 2,000 · 15 km c. 1,500
Cologne, 11 September c. 1,900 10K c. 1,200 · 5K c. 750

Cologne, Berlin and Nuremberg in brief

Cologne had the smallest field of the four cities with 2026 results so far and is a classic after-work event on the Rhine: start and finish on the Rheinboulevard in Deutz, kids' run at 7 pm, 5K at 7:45 pm, 10K at 9 pm, with the 10K covering the loop twice. Race packs are handed out on Thursday, 9 September 2027, at the Schildergasse store (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Cologne 2027). For everything else in the city, see running events in Cologne.

Berlin runs across Tempelhofer Feld, the former airport, on 17 October 2026; the half marathon starts at 7:05 pm and, according to the course map, covers four laps plus an extension (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Berlin 2026). More at running events in Berlin.

Nuremberg follows on 25 October 2026 with start and finish at Frauentorgraben: half marathon at 10 am, 10K at 1:15 pm, 5K at 3 pm (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Nuremberg 2026). The rest of the year is listed at running events in Nuremberg.

Which city fits your goal?

The city event calendars help you plan the season around it: Hamburg, Munich and Hanover.

Going with your running group

The SportScheck RUN is not a corporate run: there is no team ranking and no entry via a team captain as at B2Run. Starting together still works well. The website lets you book up to 100 people for the same event and distance, larger groups contact the organiser directly (source: sportscheck.com, help pages). The buyer can enter other people's details, and the team captain collects all race packs in one go.

The real benefit comes from training together in the weeks before. A fixed weekly slot with a group keeps you going, especially for the evening events, where you should get used to late sessions. You will find a Lauftreff (group run) or run club at running in Hamburg, running in Munich, running in Hanover and running in Cologne.
