Lousberglauf on 5 May, Benefizlauf at the Waldstadion on 20 June, plus two Firmenläufe (corporate runs), a half marathon in Aachen's south and triathlon in Brand: all the key running events in Aachen for 2027 – plus what's still coming before New Year's Eve 2026.

In Aachen, running often means going uphill. The Lousberg is the goal of an after-work event on which a good half of the course climbs, the Aachener TG holds its cross-country race at the Chorusberg, and in the south of the city the trails around Hahn partly follow the Eifelsteig. In between lie the green loops: the Stadtgarten on the Monheimsallee, the Waldstadion and the Soers, where the Firmenlauf runners enter the equestrian stadium at the CHIO grounds. And twice a year the city itself belongs to running – at the Winterlauf, which leads from the Voreifel (the foothills of the Eifel) to the Chorusberg, and on New Year's Eve past the town hall, the cathedral and the Elisenbrunnen.
This overview shows which events are coming up and who they suit. Where the organizer has already confirmed the 2027 date, it's listed; otherwise we give the date of the last edition for orientation. As of 30 September 2026.

Aachen's running year ends with its two classics – a long event in December and a short one on the last day of the year.
On 13 December 2026 the Aachener TG holds the Winterlauf Aachen. It's a point-to-point run: the start is at the Bürgerhaus in Venwegen, outside the city in the Voreifel, and from there marked paths and roads lead 18 km into Aachen's city area, with the finish at the ATG sports ground Am Chorusberg. In 2025 the course was 16.1 km long; in 2026 it returns to the original 18-km course. At the 62nd edition on 14 December 2025, 1,964 people finished according to the organizer (atg-aachen.de). If you're training for a spring race, this gives you a long run with a race bib.
To close the year, the DLC Aachen's Aachener Silvesterlauf runs through the city centre on 31 December 2026, past the town hall, the cathedral and the Elisenbrunnen, among other sights. There are four races to choose from: 9 km, the Speed Race and the Fun Run, each over 4.5 km, and the Junior Cup over 1.5 km. Every participant receives a finisher's gift. At the 48th edition in 2025, 2,016 people were on the results list according to the timekeeper, 152 of them in the Junior Cup. 2026 is the 49th edition, and registration is open (dlc-aachen.de). The Fun Run is a relaxed setting for your first race bib.
At the Chorusberg, where the Winterlauf ends, the racing year begins. At the Aachener TG's Nobis-Printen-Cross you run cross-country over 5.675 km on the long course or 2.27 km on the middle-distance course, plus youth races between 515 m and 1.65 km. The start is at the sports ground Am Chorusberg, and all participants receive a Printen medal (after Aachen's traditional gingerbread). The 19th edition took place on 28 February 2026; according to the timekeeper, 184 people finished across all categories (atg-aachen.de). The 2027 date is still to be announced.
In May 2027 Aachen running shows its two sides: once steep and loud, once on flat park paths.
The Lousberglauf powered by STAWAG is an after-work event over 5.555 km on which a good half of the course climbs the Lousberg. For more than 30 years it has been organized by RWTH Aachen's university sports centre, the Sportreferat (student sports office) and the residents of the residential towers on the Rütscher Straße, where the start also is. Many run as a team and in costume – there's even a costume contest. In 2026 the Lousberglauf took place on 1 July, with 1,793 people on the results list. For 2027 the university sports centre has announced Wednesday, 5 May 2027, at 6 pm (hochschulsport.rwth-aachen.de).
Things are calmer at the Aachener Stadtparklauf by Carolus Thermen. The athletics department of TSV Alemannia Aachen invites runners to the Stadtgarten, with the start at the large fountain on the Monheimsallee. You run laps on the walking paths of the city park over 2, 4 and 8 km, plus a school race over 600 m and a Bambini race (for the youngest) over 300 m. The event is young: the fourth edition took place on 31 May 2026, and according to the timekeeper 932 people finished over 2, 4 and 8 km and in the school race (stadtparklauf-aachen.de). The Stadtparklauf is a scoring race of the Regio Aachen Laufcup. There's no date for 2027 yet.
In June the action moves to the edge of the city – once hilly in the south, once for a good cause at the Waldstadion.
At the Hahner Kitzenhauslauf you start at the FC Inde Hahn sports ground. Hahn is a district in the south of Aachen, and the course is a hilly countryside run that partly follows the Eifelsteig. Since 2026 there has been a half marathon, plus 10 km, 4.2 km, walking and school and Bambini races. The 22nd edition took place on 14 June 2026; according to the timekeeper, 474 people were on the overall list (kitzenhauslauf.de). Like the Stadtparklauf, the Kitzenhauslauf is part of the Regio Aachen Laufcup. The 2027 date is still to be announced. For a first half marathon, this isn't a flat course for a personal best, but a start with scenery.
On 20 June 2027 the Benefizlauf Aachen takes place for the 25th time. Around the Waldstadion there are 10 km and 5 km, a team run over 3 km, 5 km walking and Nordic walking, an inclusion run and children's races. The run has existed since 1999, and according to the organizer more than 1,000 people take part every year. The proceeds go to non-profit clubs from the region – in 2025 it was €15,000 (lustlauf.de). For families and for a first race bib, this is a good setting.
Aachen has two Firmenläufe (corporate runs). The B2Run is in spring, while the Aachener Firmenlauf recently changed month – don't assume a fixed date in the year for it.
Measured by finishers, the Aachener Firmenlauf is the city's biggest running event: at the 13th edition on 3 July 2026, 5,190 people finished in the three categories according to the timekeeper. The course is a 3.3-km loop on the Pascalstraße, run once, twice or three times – so 3.3, 6.6 or 9.9 km. Part of the proceeds goes to health and social projects in Aachen (aachener-firmenlauf.de). The 12th edition was still on 19 September 2025; the organizer hasn't yet published the 2027 date.
The B2Run Aachen is part of the nationwide B2Run series. The loop of around 5 km leads through the Soers and past the Tivoli, with the finish in the CHIO equestrian stadium. At the 12th edition on 28 April 2026, 3,500 people took part according to the organizer (b2run.de). Here too, the 2027 date is still to be announced.
At the Abraxas-Triathlon in Aachen-Brand, formerly known as the MHA-Triathlon, the swim takes place in the indoor pool. The bike course leads via Eich and Oberforstbach, and the run goes over the Brander Wall. In the Jedermann (open) race that's 500 m, 21 km and 5 km, in the taster triathlon 200 m, 8 km and 2.3 km, plus relays and school and youth races. According to the Aachener Zeitung, the 35th edition on 3 May 2026 was fully booked with 600 starters (brander-sv.de). The 2027 date hasn't been published yet. With a taster distance and relays, the event is a good way into triathlon.
There's no IRONMAN race in Aachen. The nearest is around 95 km away: the IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg on 29 August 2027. The swim is 1.9 km at the regatta course, the flat 90-km bike course crosses the Brücke der Solidarität, and the half marathon runs through the Sportpark Duisburg (ironman.com).
Registering early pays off. At the Abraxas-Triathlon all 600 places were taken in 2026. Registration for the 2026 Silvesterlauf is already open.
Many 2027 dates are still to be announced. So far only the Lousberglauf on 5 May and the Benefizlauf on 20 June are firmly announced. For the other events we give the 2026 date for orientation – but the Lousberglauf and the Aachener Firmenlauf have recently changed month, so don't rely on the previous year there.
The Regio Aachen Laufcup links dates. The Stadtparklauf and the Hahner Kitzenhauslauf are scoring races of the series – a good reason to set yourself several goals over the summer.
Two clubs shape the calendar. The Aachener TG holds the Printen-Cross at the Chorusberg in February and welcomes the Winterlauf runners there in December. The DLC Aachen closes the year with the Silvesterlauf in the city centre.
Aachen's year has its highlights at the edges: the Lousberglauf in May, for which teams from the university and companies get together, and the Winterlauf in December, for which the long runs fall in the autumn. Uphill and over 18 km, it's easier in a group, and at the start it's nicer when you know someone. You'll find the right group among the running groups and run clubs in Aachen.
