B2Run Düsseldorf 2027: date, free transit, course, records

Take tram U78 to the stadium with your bib as your ticket, run along the Rhine and finish inside the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA: that was the 15th B2Run Düsseldorf on Thursday, 21 May 2026, for 16,000 people from 630 companies – a new participation record (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf press release 2026). B2Run has not yet announced a 2027 date (as of 3 October 2026). Because the Düsseldorf edition was held in May in each of the last two years, the real preparation starts in winter – more on that below.

Tram U78 and your bib: getting to the arena

The first thing that sets Düsseldorf apart from many other B2Run cities: every participant from the VRR transport area (the regional network) rides the tram to and from the event for free with their bib, in fare zone C, region south, 2nd class (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z). The bib is your proof, so keep it on you on the tram.

Important for anyone coming along without running: the fan ticket is not valid on public transport (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z).

Family and friends: Düsseldorf requires a fan ticket

Unlike in Cologne, for example (source: b2run.de, Cologne A-Z), spectators in Düsseldorf can't just walk onto the grounds. Fans need a fan ticket. It can be booked in advance in the B2Run online shop and is handed out with the bibs, or bought at the info point at the Schumacher stand/Arena-Sportpark entrance (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z). If your team wants to bring partners or kids, add them to the team captain's order.

Two more things to know before the evening: there are no changing rooms, but there is a free bag drop – bring a fully closable bag that you label with your bib number on site (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z). So arrive already in running kit. Food and drink are paid by card or with vouchers that are only sold in advance (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z).

In 2026 team captains collected the race packs on 12 and 13 May at the Holmes Place Club on Provinzialplatz, just over a week before the event (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z).

Course: along the Rhine, finish in the arena

According to the organiser the loop is about 5.8 km, mostly flat, runs along the Rhine and finishes inside the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf course). A word of caution when comparing times: in 2025 the organiser still listed the course as just over 6.2 km (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf press release 2025). If you compare your 2025 time with 2026, you're comparing different distances. Think in minutes per kilometre instead.

A course map and a virtual course video are on the course page. On pacing: men faster than 4 and women faster than 5 minutes per kilometre can book a Durchstarter (fast runner) ticket for the front block. Everyone else starts with a Funstarter ticket, walking included (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z).

Two things stand out. First, the three "Fittesten" (the biggest teams) are the same organisations as the year before: Düsseldorf University Hospital, Deutsche Apotheker- und Ärztebank and Eduard Kronenberg GmbH. Second, the small-business ranking is within reach: 40 participants were enough for first place in 2026. Svenja Pingpank and Tim Wagner both ran for IST University of Management (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf press release 2026). 2026 also saw the first "Carry4Water Challenge" by charity partner Menschen für Menschen, in which teams carried an 8-litre water canister around the course; 1,266 people started as charity starters, and the biggest charity team was WPP Media Germany with 130 (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf press release 2026).

A May race is prepared in winter

Whether B2Run Düsseldorf 2027 will again be in May is not confirmed. If it is, preparation falls into the bleakest part of the year. Count backwards: for beginners going from little or no running to almost six kilometres, ten to twelve weeks with two or three sessions a week is a sensible frame. For a late-May date, that means starting by early March at the latest, while it still gets dark early and often rains.

This is where a group helps. A fixed evening with colleagues, meeting at the office or right on the Rhine promenade, turns a dark March session into an appointment you don't cancel. Split into two or three pace groups and meet up again at the end. If you've been training alone, you'll find open run clubs and Lauftreffs (group runs) with weekly meet-ups under running in Düsseldorf. Other races in the city, for example as a test before May, are listed in the Düsseldorf race calendar.

Registration and prices: what applied in 2026

B2Run registration goes through a team captain who books places for the company; individual runners and private teams are also accepted (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z). How the series works in general, with team rankings and price tiers, is explained in our B2Run 2027 overview. In Düsseldorf, these prices per place applied in 2026, each plus VAT: €29.90 opening rate, €32.90 early-bird rate and €35.90 standard rate. The first two tiers sold out (source: b2run.de, Düsseldorf A-Z). Prices for 2027 have not been published yet.
