Around 7,750 people, five start blocks, a finish in front of the palace: what you need to know about Mannheim's company run while the 2027 date is still pending.

Five kilometres, five start times, one finish in the Ehrenhof courtyard of Mannheim Palace: around 7,750 people from more than 380 companies took part in the BAUHAUS Firmenlauf Mannheim (company run) on Thursday, 18 June 2026 (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de). A year earlier, on 26 June 2025, it was 6,860 people from 369 companies – already a participation record at the time (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, news). So the event is growing, and after eleven editions it has a firm place in Mannheim's calendar.
The 2027 date has not been published yet (as of 3 October 2026). The organiser only says that registration for the next company run will open online in 2027 (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, registration). For orientation: in both 2025 and 2026 the event was held on a Thursday evening in June.
What makes Mannheim special is the schedule. Instead of one big wave there are five start blocks every half hour: 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30 pm (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, race info). For an after-work event, that's a real advantage. If you leave an office in the Quadrate (Mannheim's grid-plan centre) at 5 pm, take a late block; if you have to pick up the kids, run early and be home for dinner.
How to plan your evening:
The race goes ahead in any weather. Nordic walking poles, strollers and animals are not allowed for safety reasons (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, FAQ).
The 5 km start in the Ehrenhof, lead through the palace gardens onto the Rhine promenade and upstream along the river. There's a drinks station at around km 2.3. The way back runs through Friedrichspark and the Quadrate into the Ehrenhof (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, race info). The course is mostly flat and paved and, according to the organiser, low-barrier.
For beginners it's a forgiving course. The first half along the Rhine is the quieter part where you find your rhythm. Save something for the way back: your colleagues line the Quadrate and the Ehrenhof in the evening, and the finish in front of the palace is the moment most people come for. If you can't yet run 5 km in one go, two or three sessions a week over a few weeks will get you there. A good place to practise is the Rhine promenade itself, which the race also uses.
Mannheim is open. Companies, institutions, organisations, clubs and self-employed people can enter, and according to the FAQ, private individuals too. There's no cap on numbers, and the minimum age is 15 (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, FAQ). So a running group can enter as a club, and if you're self-employed you don't need a big employer behind you.
A team captain organises the team through the company login: registration, extras, catering, and collecting and handing out race packs (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, team area). For registration, they need each person's first name, surname, gender and email address. Changes are free until the registration deadline (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, registration).
Prizes go to the three fastest three-person teams in the women's, men's and mixed categories. There are also awards for the largest teams, for the company with the most apprentices (Auszubildende) on the start line and for the most creative outfit (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, race info).
The apprentice award is the lever many team captains overlook. If you organise the company run at a business with lots of apprentices, make it a project of its own: one weekly group run from spring, a team shirt, a meeting point at the Ehrenhof. For first-year apprentices, the company run is often the first evening they get to know colleagues outside work. And a fast three-person team can come from even a small office – you only need three people.
In 2026 regular registration cost €24.50 plus 19% VAT per person, late registration €32 including VAT (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, registration). The deadline was Monday, 1 June 2026, at 11:59 pm. Late entries were still possible at race-pack pickup until shortly before the start. The fee is due before you collect your race packs, and registration is binding. If someone can't make it, the place can be passed on within the company (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, registration and FAQ).
Race packs contain personalised bibs, safety pins and partner goodies (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, race info). If you can't make the evening, you can run virtually: in 2026 that was possible from Wednesday, 17 June, to Sunday, 21 June, via the viRACE app (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de).
For a team stand, pitches started at €250 net and team tents at €130 net in 2026; everything sold out. Food and drink can be sorted with vouchers: ten drinks vouchers for €40, ten food vouchers for €50 (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, team area). If you want your own stand in 2027, sort it out early.
On race day your bib works as a free combined ticket for buses and trams in the VRN (Rhine-Neckar transport network), for the journey there and back (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, race info and FAQ). It's about a ten-minute walk from the main station; tram lines 1, 5 and 7 stop at "Schloss", plus bus line 60. Street parking is scarce, and the organiser points to the city's multi-storey car parks (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de, race info).
After the race there's an after-run party with live music, a big award ceremony and catering (source: firmenlauf-mannheim.de).
Many people stop again after the June evening, even though the hardest part – getting started – is done. If you want to keep going, find a group with a fixed weekly slot: running in Mannheim lists the city's running groups and run clubs. What else is on in Mannheim through the year, from the Neckar Run in spring to the half marathon in autumn, is in our Mannheim race calendar.
Mannheim isn't the only big company run in Baden-Württemberg. If your company has sites in the region, take a look at the AOK Firmenlauf Stuttgart and B2Run Karlsruhe.
