B2Run Karlsruhe 2027: palace gardens, Wildpark and team scoring

B2Run Karlsruhe opens the season in Germany's southwest: while most B2Run cities race in summer, Karlsruhe ran on 7 May in 2026, the second stop of the series after Aachen (source: b2run.de, home page). The 16th edition drew 11,000 people from 475 companies, more than ever (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe report 2026). Most of them run for the experience. This page also looks at those who want to win something: what does a Karlsruhe company team need to finish at the top of the team rankings?

B2Run Karlsruhe 2026 in numbers

(Source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe A–Z, Karlsruhe report 2026 and press release 2025)

B2Run has not published the 2027 date yet (as of 3 October 2026). How registration through a team captain works is explained in our B2Run 2027 overview, along with the series' scoring in general.

Back at the Wildpark

The stadium finish is not a given in Karlsruhe. While football club KSC's stadium was being rebuilt, B2Run ran only in the palace gardens for several years; it returned to the BBBank Wildpark in 2024 (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe news 2024). Since then the field starts next to the stadium, loops through the Schlossgarten and finishes along the back straight inside.

According to the organiser, the course runs along the Adenauerring, past the Schlossgartensee lake and the palace itself, and is largely flat (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe course). Its length has changed with the move: 5.7 km were announced in 2024, about 5.5 km in 2025 and about 5.3 km in 2026 (source: b2run.de, news 2024, press release 2025, Karlsruhe course). Comparing times across years therefore means comparing slightly different courses.

How fast the winning teams are

Team scoring counts a team's five fastest runners, separately for men, women and mixed. The three fastest men and women in the individual ranking are not counted for their team (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe A–Z). Here are the winning times of the last two years:

Ranking 2025 2026 Average per runner 2026
Men PI – Physik Instrumente, 1:28:21 PI – Physik Instrumente, 1:28:36 17:43 min, about 3:21 min/km
Women United Internet, 1:59:00 Siemens AG, 1:58:45 23:45 min, about 4:29 min/km
Mixed DB/VDES, 1:41:49 SEW-EURODRIVE, 1:43:55 20:47 min, about 3:55 min/km

(Source: b2run.de, press release 2025 and report 2026; average per runner calculated by us as total time divided by five, pace based on 5.3 km)

Two things stand out. In the men's ranking, PI – Physik Instrumente has been unbeatable for two years, with five runners averaging under 18 minutes. In the women's and mixed rankings the bar is much lower. A women's team with five colleagues running 5.3 km in about 24 minutes was on course to win in 2026. That is ambitious, but for women who train regularly it is far from elite level.

Building a team that can compete

If you want to go for a team ranking in Karlsruhe, plan differently than for a fun run.

Enter widely, not just your fastest. The system picks the best five per category on its own; you don't name anyone in advance (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe A–Z). The more ambitious runners you enter, the less one person's bad day hurts. And because the individual top three drop out, your best runner may be missing from the team score precisely because they made the podium.

Front-block tickets for your scoring runners. Starting in the front block means no time lost in the crowd. B2Run recommends its "Durchstarter" ticket only for men under 4 and women under 5 minutes per kilometre (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe A–Z), which fits a women's team with winning ambitions exactly. The top ten and the winning teams are ranked by gun time, from the starting signal rather than from crossing the line, so a spot far back in the wave costs real seconds.

Train speed, not just volume. Easy jogging won't get five runners under 18 or under 24 minutes. One interval session a week, together after work, does more than an extra long run. How to structure intervals is covered in our article on interval training.

Use the Badische Meile as a fitness test. B2Run comes early in Karlsruhe's year, so any test race falls in spring. The Badische Meile, a traditional race over 8.88889 km, takes place on Sunday, 2 May 2027, finishing in the Carl-Kaufmann-Stadion (source: badischemeile.de). Whether it again falls just days before B2Run depends on the B2Run date, which is still missing. More spring races are listed under running events in Karlsruhe.

If few colleagues run, you will find pace partners in Karlsruhe's Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs, many of which meet on weekday evenings. See running in Karlsruhe.

"Die Fittesten": who moves the most people

Besides the fastest teams, B2Run honours the companies with the most participants, called "Die Fittesten" (the fittest). In Karlsruhe in 2026, Siemens AG, Kirche in Bewegung and Lidl Vertriebs-GmbH brought around 930 people to the start in the large-company category. Among mid-size firms, Badischer Landesverein, grenke AG and Angiomed fielded almost 400, and among small businesses Gartenstadt Karlsruhe eG, RBS wave and Mailänder Consult more than 150 (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe report 2026). 498 people ran as charity starters with a €5 surcharge; the largest charity team was Carl Roth with 63 (source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe news 2026).

What to know for the evening

(Source: b2run.de, Karlsruhe A–Z)

The 2026 A–Z does not mention free transit with the bib in Karlsruhe, so budget for a regular ticket unless B2Run says otherwise for 2027. The 2026 race was run "in the best running weather", as the organiser put it; a May date carries less heat risk than the series' summer stops. For a summer B2Run with a stadium finish in the region, see B2Run Stuttgart, and if you want to go longer in autumn, look at the Baden-Marathon on 19 September 2027 (source: badenmarathon.de).
