Running Events in Augsburg 2027: M-net Firmenlauf, Half Marathon and Kuhsee Triathlon

Augsburg runs mainly in the south and along the Lech. The Siebentischwald is the city's home course: from the Sportanlage Süd on the Ilsungstraße, a 10 km event and the half marathon start in spring, and a relay marathon in September. At the Kuhsee, on one weekend in July, people first run by torchlight and the next day swim, cycle and run on the Lech dam. Add to that the Wertach, along which a women's run leads, the trade fair grounds (Messe), from which the Firmenlauf sends thousands through the Univiertel and Göggingen, and the forests in the west around Bergheim and Wellenburg, where the winter running series is at home.

This overview shows which events are coming up and who they suit. Where the organizer has already confirmed the 2027 date, it's listed; otherwise we give the date of the last edition for orientation. As of 30 September 2026.

Still in 2026: the Augsburger Winterlaufserie

Most of Augsburg's events fall between March and September. Until the end of the year, one series with four dates remains.

The AOK Augsburger Winterlaufserie (winter running series) of the TG Viktoria Augsburg enters its 49th edition in 2026. It consists of four forest and cross-country runs in the forests in the west of the city: the Hermann-Böving-Gedächtnislauf on the Südring, the Nord-/Südring, the Viktoria-Cross and the Augsburger Weihnachtslauf (Christmas run). The starts are in Augsburg-Bergheim at the Waldparkplatz Kathreinerstraße and at the Augsburger Waldhütte in Wellenburg. The dates are 7 November, 14 November, 5 December and 20 December 2026. Depending on the date, you can choose around 3 km, around 6 km or 9 to just under 10 km; the exact lengths vary from course to course (tgva.de). If you want to run the half marathon in the Siebentischwald in spring, this gives you four fixed dates to stay in shape through the winter.

Spring: Siebentischwald and Wertach

Augsburg has no big city marathon. According to hdsports.org, the former SportScheck Stadtlauf is no longer held, and the Welterbelauf, first run in 2024, didn't take place in 2026. Spring therefore belongs to the Siebentischwald in the south of Augsburg – and to the TG Viktoria, which invites runners here twice.

The season opens on 21 March 2027 with the AOK-Straßenlauf durch den Siebentischwald (road race through the Siebentischwald). The start is at the Sportanlage Süd on the Ilsungstraße, the distances are 5 and 10 km, plus a children's race. The club has announced the date on its home page (tgva.de). The 5 km are a good first race, the 10 km a fitness test for April.

Because four weeks later, on 18 April 2027, the swa Straßenlauf durch den Siebentischwald follows at the same place, known in Augsburg as the Augsburger Halbmarathon. In 2026 it took place for the 40th time on 19 April, and 2027 is the 41st edition. You can choose between the half marathon over 21.1 km and a Hobbylauf (fun run) over 6.7 km through the forest. Registration for 2027 is already open (tgva.de). Alongside the individual half marathon at the relay in September, this is the date for the 21.1 km in Augsburg.

A week after that, on 24 April 2027, it's off to the Wertach. The sportingWOMEN Run Augsburg is a women's run over 5 and 10 km, starting at the TV Augsburg on the Gabelsbergerstraße. Walking, jogging and running are explicitly all equally welcome (sporting-women.de). The event is new: the first edition took place on 2 May 2026, and according to hdsports.org, 723 women reached the finish. If you want to start the running year without time pressure, this is the right setting.

With your team: M-net Firmenlauf Augsburg

Measured by participants, the M-net Firmenlauf Augsburg (corporate run) is the city's biggest running event. According to the organizer, 14,000 participants took part in the 15th edition on 19 May 2026.

The course is 5.3 km long, a tarmac loop through the Univiertel and Göggingen with start and finish at the Messe Augsburg. The start is in two waves, followed by an after-run party. In 2027 the Firmenlauf moves to June: according to the organizer's schedule, the 16th edition is on 10 June 2027, and team registration opens on 16 March 2027 (m-net-firmenlauf-augsburg.de). At 5.3 km, it's a good first race bib – and with your colleagues at your side, getting started is easy.

For a good cause: zoo and gasworks

Two Augsburg events share the same format: for one hour, laps are collected, and every lap raises money for a good cause. Neither has published its 2027 date yet.

At the Augsburger Zoolauf (zoo run), the laps lead through Augsburg Zoo, each one 1.4 km long. It's organised by the km Sport-Agentur and the zoo. On 12 June 2026 it took place for the 17th time, 290 runners completed 2,085 laps between them, and €5,000 was raised for the new Himalaya enclosure. The field is limited to 300 places (zoo-augsburg.de).

The swa Spendenlauf (charity run) of the TG Viktoria and the Stadtwerke Augsburg (the city's utility company) is younger. The third edition was run on 23 July 2026 on the grounds of the old gasworks, on laps of around 700 m. The entry fees and a lap bonus from the Stadtwerke go to a charitable cause, in 2026 to the Freunde der Augsburger Stadtbücherei (friends of the city library). 350 places are planned here (tgva.de).

Kuhsee weekend: Nachtlauf and triathlon

On one weekend at the end of July, the Kuhsee belongs to runners and triathletes. Both events are organised by the km Sport-Agentur, and each starts on the south shore of the lake.

The Saturday evening opens on 24 July 2027 with the Augsburger Nachtlauf am Kuhsee (night run). Two laps of 2.5 km each lead around the lake, and the course is lit with torches. In 2026 the Nachtlauf took place for the 18th time. Registration for 2027 opens on 1 January 2027, and the field is limited to 700 runners (lew-kuhseetriathlon.de). At 5 km, this is an evening run almost everyone can manage.

On Sunday, 25 July 2027, the LEW Kuhsee Triathlon follows. It's a sprint triathlon: a 500 m swim in the Kuhsee, 17 km on the bike and a 5 km run on the Lech dam. There's also a relay and a children's category. The 27th edition was held in 2026, and for 2027 the individual start is limited to 400 places (lew-kuhseetriathlon.de). With the short distance and the relay, it's a good entry into triathlon – and if you ran the Nachtlauf the evening before, you already know the running course by the lake.

Autumn: relay marathon in the Siebentischwald

In Augsburg, the marathon distance is best run with others. At the Augsburger Staffellauf der Airbus SG (relay run), formerly MBB-SG, teams share a relay marathon over 42.2 km or a relay half marathon. If you'd rather run alone, you can start in the individual half marathon or the Hobbylauf over 7 km. The start is in the Siebentischwald on the Ilsungstraße. On 6 September 2026 the Staffellauf took place for the 41st time, and it hosted the Swabian half marathon championship. Planning for 2027 is under way, but the club hasn't published the date yet (staffelmarathon.jimdofree.com).

Nearby: Challenge Roth

There's no IRONMAN within reach, but around 100 km north of Augsburg lies the DATEV Challenge Roth, which the organizer describes as the world's biggest long-distance triathlon. It has existed since 1984. The next edition is on 4 July 2027: a 3.8 km swim in the Main-Donau-Kanal (Main-Danube Canal), 180 km on the bike with the climb at the Solarer Berg and a 42.2 km marathon, with the finish in the Triathlonstadion in Roth. Individual starters and relays are both possible (challenge-roth.com).

Regular online registration for 2027 already took place on 13 July 2026. One chance still remains: the Late Entry Draw, a ballot for race places that you can enter until 9 November 2026; the organizer guarantees at least 300 individual and 25 relay places, and the draw is on 11 November (challenge-roth.com).

Planning tips for your running year

Some fields are small. The Zoolauf has 300 places, the swa Spendenlauf 350. At the Kuhsee, the Nachtlauf is limited to 700 runners and the individual start at the triathlon to 400 places.

Keep an eye on registration windows. Registration for the swa Straßenlauf in April is already open. Teams for the M-net Firmenlauf can register from 16 March 2027, and registration for the Nachtlauf am Kuhsee opens on 1 January 2027.

Two organizers shape the year. The TG Viktoria Augsburg hosts the AOK-Straßenlauf, the swa Straßenlauf, the Winterlaufserie and – together with the Stadtwerke – the swa Spendenlauf. The km Sport-Agentur is behind the M-net Firmenlauf, the Nachtlauf, the Kuhsee Triathlon and – together with the zoo – the Zoolauf.

Three places shape Augsburg's running year. The AOK-Straßenlauf, the half marathon and the Staffellauf take place in the Siebentischwald in the south. The Nachtlauf and the triathlon are held at the Kuhsee. And the Winterlaufserie is at home in the forests in the west around Bergheim and Wellenburg.

Don't train alone

Augsburg's year has two goals that fit together well: the half marathon in the Siebentischwald in April, which you train for over the winter, and the Firmenlauf in June, which you bring your colleagues along to. The long runs are easier in a group, and at the start it's nicer when you know someone. You'll find the right group among the running groups and run clubs in Augsburg.
