Teams of five or more, about 5 km around the Weserwehr weir, mostly untimed, €5 to charity per entry. In 2026 the heat pushed the run into August. What you need to know for 2027.

Five people, five kilometres, five euros for charity: the Bremer Firmenlauf zur Spätschicht ("Bremen corporate run to the late shift") is an after-work event around the Weserwehr weir, where the stopwatch plays no role for most teams (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage). The 19th edition was due on 25 June 2026, was postponed because of the heat and took place on Thursday, 20 August 2026 (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, registration). The organiser had not published a 2027 date by early October 2026, and registration for 2027 had not opened by then either (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage and registration). Here's what makes the event tick, and why it works for running groups and groups of friends, not just companies.
The organiser calls it "Das Original. Echt Bremen." – the original, genuinely Bremen (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage). It used to be called BMW-Firmenlauf. Its long-time organiser was Utz Bertschy, who also shaped the Bremen Marathon and the Bremen winter running series, and who died in an accident in June 2024. In agreement with the Marathon Club Bremen, the Bremen agency bremenRAcing has carried the run on since; the 18th edition was on 26 June 2025 (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, post of 21 August 2024). Around 2,700 people took part in that first edition under the new organiser, according to technical director Thomas Hendrik Adick (Source: hdsports.at, preview of 3 June 2026).
The 19th edition was scheduled for Thursday, 25 June 2026. On 24 June the organiser had already added extra paramedics because of the summer temperatures, so that there would be medics roughly every 1.25 km along the course (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, participant information). In the end the run was moved to Thursday, 20 August 2026 because of the heat, with a fresh registration window from 30 July to 10 August (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, registration).
What this means for you: an after-work run in high summer starts in the warmest part of the day. In the weeks before, deliberately do some of your training runs in the early evening rather than the morning, so your body knows what 5 km in the heat feels like. Drink throughout the day, not just at the start arch, and take the first half easier than you think you need to. In 2026 the water station was at roughly 2.5 km at the Wehrstraße junction (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, participant information).
The heart of the event is the untimed team run. Teams start in staggered slots from 17:30 according to the time window they booked when registering, and run or walk a loop of about 5 km once (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules). The organiser explicitly describes it as "not a classic race" but an evening about togetherness (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage).
New in 2026, by popular demand, was a joint timed run at 17:15, ahead of the teams (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage). It has its own registration and its own chip bib. Switching from the team start to the timed run requires a new registration, and teams and timed individual runners can't register together (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules). If someone on your team wants to race the clock, sort that out before you register.
| Team run | Timed run | |
|---|---|---|
| Start 2026 | from 17:30, staggered by slot | 17:15, mass start |
| Fee 2026 | €22.50 to €35 depending on date, late entry €40 | €25 to €37.50, late entry €42.50 |
| Included | €5 donation | €5 donation |

The 2026 price tiers started back in August 2025: until 24 August 2025 a team start cost €22.50, by 7 June 2026 it was €35 (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules). Registering early saves real money. Whether registration for 2027 opens as early had not been announced by early October 2026.
Any team of five or more can take part. Alongside companies, the organiser explicitly mentions groups of friends, neighbourhoods and clubs (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage). Everyone from the U14 age group upwards may start (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules).
That makes it a good fit for your running group, too. Five people from your Lauftreff (group run), a booked time slot, a beer-table set – that's all it takes. For beginners, 5 km without a clock is a good first date in the calendar; faster runners can additionally enter the timed run. You'll find regular groups and run clubs to train with or build a team from under running in Bremen.
The course runs through the Pauliner Marsch meadows, along the Werdersee lake and past the marina (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules) – a loop along the Weser and the Werdersee (Source: hdsports.at, preview of 3 June 2026). In 2026 start and finish were at Hastedter Park, Hastedter Osterdeich 230. There was a photo wall in the start area for team pictures, and the free group photo was taken at the photo point between the fish ladder and the insect garden, no later than ten minutes before your start (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, participant information). At the finish, according to the entry rules, there was water, spritzer, non-alcoholic beer, bananas and apples (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules).
Getting there was tricky in 2026: because of major roadworks in Hastedt, including on tram line 2, and the renovation of the A1 Weser bridge, the organiser expected serious traffic problems around the Osterdeich and advised against coming by car. There was no parking at Hastedter Park; drivers were asked to use the upper deck of the Hansa Carrée car park. By public transport, the stop to use is "Weserwehr", for example on tram line 3 (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, participant information). Whether the roadworks will still matter in 2027 is unclear.
In 2026 bibs were handed out on race day from 14:00 in a tent in the start and finish area, pre-sorted by company. Individual bibs aren't issued, and the registration confirmation on your phone is enough. Teams got one gym bag for valuables per 20 registered people. There were toilets and a changing gazebo on site, but no showers (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, participant information).
After the run comes the after-run party with DJs, music and food (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage). In 2026 teams could add a beer-table set for up to six people for €45 and a currywurst meal with a drink for €10 (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules). Bringing your own snacks and drinks was allowed, as was a beach flag to mark your meeting point; tents or gazebos only with official permission (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, participant information). The seating area isn't covered, so a rain jacket in your bag is a good idea (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules). In 2026 Radio Bremen sports commentator Heiko Neugebauer was on the microphone for the first time (Source: hdsports.at, preview of 3 June 2026).
Every entry fee includes €5 that goes, without deductions, to a project in Bremen or the surrounding area (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, 2026 entry rules). Non-profits can apply; for 2026 the window ran from 15 August 2025 to 31 May 2026 (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage). Since bremenRAcing took over, participants choose the recipients (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, post of 21 August 2024). In 2025 this raised almost €20,000 (Source: hdsports.at, preview of 3 June 2026).
Search for "Firmenlauf" in Bremen and you'll often land on B2Run Bremen. It's part of the nationwide B2Run series; in 2026 it took place on 2 June, ran about 6 km along the Weser and finished inside the Weserstadion, with 11,500 participants (Source: b2run.de, Bremen). The Bremer Firmenlauf zur Spätschicht is smaller, more local and has no stadium: five people per team, most without timing, then currywurst by the weir. Every other race in the city is listed in running events in Bremen. And if 5 km leaves you wanting more, the swb-Marathon Bremen is the next step.
By early October 2026 the organiser had not announced a 2027 date (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage). The 18th edition was on 26 June 2025; the 19th was planned for 25 June 2026 and, because of the heat, took place on 20 August 2026 (Sources: bremer-firmenlauf.com, post of 21 August 2024 and registration). bremenRAcing shares news via its newsletter and WhatsApp channel (Source: bremer-firmenlauf.com, homepage).
