The schnelleStelle.de Firmenlauf (corporate run) brings a huge after-work crowd to Leipzig: 22,074 runners from 968 companies were registered for the edition on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, home page). The organiser calls it the biggest corporate run in its history (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, 2026 review). The 2027 date has not been published yet (as of 3 October 2026). For 2026 the date was announced at the end of November and registration opened on 10 December 2025 (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, save the date). Until then, here is what makes this race: just under five kilometres around the Sportforum sports complex, a final lap around the Red Bull Arena and rankings that go well beyond the fastest time.

The course: Elster cycle path, oncoming runners, stadium lap

The start is on the Festwiese in front of the Red Bull Arena. From there the course goes straight onto the Elsterradweg cycle path and north along the water. At Hans-Driesch-Straße it turns right, over a roundabout into the road "Am Sportforum". At Goyastraße the field switches carriageway: for the next 500 metres or so you meet the runners who are already on their way back (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, course 2026).

At the arena car park it turns left towards Friedrich-Ebert-Straße onto a wide footpath that loops around the Arena Leipzig. At the Jahnallee/Am Sportforum junction the course turns right, back onto the other carriageway heading north. After the underpasses comes the part many people run this race for: left onto the stadium grounds, a short climb up to the Red Bull Arena concourse, then anticlockwise once around the stadium to the finish in front of the west entrance (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, course 2026). At the finish there are drinks from Lichtenauer and the finisher coffee mug that every participant receives (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ). The 2026 course was the same as in 2025.

What that means for your race: the only climb comes just before the end, exactly when everyone wants to speed up. Save a little for the ramp up to the concourse and only push on the lap around the stadium. The two-way section at Goyastraße is the best place to high-five colleagues from other waves. And if you are after a time: timing is net, so the clock only starts at the line. The chip sits on the bib and is attached to your shoe (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ).

Seven start waves: which one fits your working day?

In 2026 the waves went off every 20 minutes: 5:40, 6:00, 6:20, 6:40, 7:00, 7:20 and 7:40 pm. The first six were fully booked in the end, with places left only in the last one (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, home page). The team captain picks a preferred wave at registration; teams that leave it open are assigned one about two weeks before the race (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ).

The choice is mainly about working hours. The organiser recommends arriving at least an hour before your wave. The site opens at 4 pm and closes at 10 pm, and the finish closes about 60 minutes after the last start (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ). If you work until 5 pm, one of the middle waves is more relaxed than the first.

For the fastest runners there is the "Durchstarter" block right at the start line, which goes before the first wave at 5:40 pm regardless of the team's wave. In 2026 the upgrade cost €14.90 net on top of the entry, was limited to 100 places and could only be booked by the team captain (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, entry conditions and FAQ).

Building a team for the rankings

The rankings are the real reason to think about how you put your team together. Any team that gets at least four women, four men, or two women and two men to the finish enters the team ranking. The four fastest times are added up: the four fastest women or men for women's and men's teams, and the two fastest women plus the two fastest men for mixed teams (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, rankings). There is no upper limit on team size.

On top of that there are individual rankings by job role: fastest boss, fastest HR person, fastest apprentice, fastest skilled worker and fastest secretary. To be included, the role has to be entered at registration or when transferring a place (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, rankings). For a small team, that can be a more realistic shot at a trophy than the overall ranking.

And then there are two special awards that need no speed at all. "Sportiest company" goes to whoever brings the most people: in 2026 it was the university hospital with more than 1,200 participants, just ahead of the city administration and Porsche Leipzig. "Most creative company" rewards the most original outfit; in 2026 the teams from MOMOX, Becker Umweltdienste and NEL GmbH won (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, 2026 review). The organiser watches every start for costumed teams and recommends announcing your costume on social media beforehand (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ).

Registration and prices: what 2026 showed

Registration goes through a team captain on the davengo entry platform. In 2026 prices rose in three steps: €29.90 net per person for an early quota of 3,000 places, €34.90 until the main deadline on 22 May, and €39.90 from 26 May (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, entry conditions). Book before the main deadline and race packs arrive by post, in 2026 for a €9.90 base fee plus €0.90 per entry, both net. After that, bibs are held at the organiser's office on site (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ).

Transfers are free, up to about an hour before the first start even via the QR code on the race-pack envelope. Entries can only be cancelled in special cases such as illness with a doctor's note, minus a handling fee. There is also a small quota for race-day entries at the organiser's office (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ).

On site: bike, not car

There is no free public transport ticket because there is no agreement with the transport operator. The organiser recommends cycling or public transport, as parking is limited and mostly paid. There is a bike park, but it is unattended and taken down from 10 pm. There are no showers; changing tents stand next to the clothing drop, which does not accept bags or suitcases (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ). So arrive in running kit with as little luggage as possible.

At the catering stands in 2026, food cost between €4 and €8, soft drinks from €3 and a beer (0.4 l) €5, paid with tokens or cash (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, FAQ). Companies can also book a table in the Stammtisch marquee or their own tent as a meeting point.

No B2Run in Leipzig

Anyone looking for a corporate run in Leipzig quickly comes across the B2Run series. Leipzig, however, is not among the locations listed on b2run.de (source: b2run.de, home page). How the B2Run series works and where it runs is explained in our B2Run 2027 overview. The Leipzig corporate run has its own organiser and its own rules, such as a team ranking based on four times rather than five. Elsewhere in Saxony, the REWE Team Challenge Dresden is another big corporate run.

Preparing for 5 km with your colleagues

Most beginners can manage just under five kilometres after eight to ten weeks of two or three short sessions a week. If the 2027 date is again in mid-June, training starts in April. The organiser has posted easy loops of around five kilometres in Leipzig on Strava and Komoot and offers training plans to download (source: firmenlauf-leipzig.de, training routes in Leipzig). It gets easier with a fixed date: once a week together after work, or with a running group nearby. You will find Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs with weekly sessions under Running in Leipzig.

If the corporate run leaves you wanting more, the city's other races are listed under running events in Leipzig. If you want a bigger goal afterwards, look at the Leipzig Marathon.
