REWE Team Challenge Dresden 2027: waves, course, registration

The 18th REWE Team Challenge Dresden takes place on Tuesday, 22 June 2027: 5 km from Postplatz through the city centre into the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, split into seven start waves from 5 pm (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen). Registration opens on Thursday, 8 October 2026 at noon, and the price depends on how early you book (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News). In 2026, 32,000 people from around 2,000 companies and institutions took part, more than ever before (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Rekord und roter Teppich"). At this size, a good evening depends less on fitness than on logistics: wave, meeting point, bags.

Seven start waves, one finish

Nobody starts all at once. Waves go off every 30 minutes. For 2027 the organiser lists these waves and limits (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen):

Wave Start Places
interface systems wave (incl. elite runners) 5:00 pm 4,500
EFW wave 5:30 pm 4,750
VON ARDENNE wave 6:00 pm 4,750
VSB wave 6:30 pm 4,500
Steinerle Bau wave 7:00 pm 4,500
AOK PLUS wave 7:30 pm 4,500
Vonovia wave 8:00 pm 4,500

That adds up to 32,000 places, the same size as 2026. In 2026 the waves filled one after another and the event sold out on 9 June (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Ausverkauft!"). So choosing a wave is a real decision for your team. If you want to run straight after work, you need one of the early slots. Run in one of the first waves and you have plenty of time to celebrate before the 9 pm awards in the stadium; start at 8 pm and you finish just before them.

All times are net times, from crossing the start line to crossing the finish (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen), so your wave and your position in it do not matter.

From Postplatz to the stadium: the evening in four stops

Bags to the stadium first. There is no bag transport from start to finish. The bag zone at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion (behind block K, on the Georg-Arnhold-Bad side) opens at noon, and you can collect your things until 10 pm (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, FAQ). The organiser suggests a routine that works well for teams: meet at the stadium, drop your bags, then walk to Postplatz together, about 30 minutes (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, FAQ). That doubles as your warm-up.

Start on Annenstraße. The meeting point is Postplatz; in 2026 the start was on Annenstraße just around the corner (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Updates zur Challenge"). In a space that big you will only find colleagues with a clear plan. Companies can also book a team stand in the start area (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Team-Treffpunkte).

The course. From Ammonstraße the route dives into the Wiener Platz tunnel, the first "power zone" with music. Via Lennéplatz the field heads towards the stadium, and on Lingnerallee comes the "double power zone", a kilometre of beats and crowds (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen). The organiser does not publish elevation figures. For pacing: the tunnel pulls people into starting too fast. Hold back until Lingnerallee, where the crowd carries you.

The finish. You finish on a red carpet on the pitch of the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Impressionen der Challenge"). Fans and colleagues who are not running get into stands A to C and M to R for free from 5 pm on race day; the organiser recommends block F, right by the finish (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, FAQ). Behind the stadium, under stands R to M by the artificial pitch, it is quieter if you need to find each other afterwards.

Your bib works as a public transport ticket in the Dresden fare zone on race day until 4 am the next morning, for regional trains, S-Bahn, trams, buses and ferries (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen). Drivers are pointed to the Altmarkt underground car park and the car parks of the Altmarkt-Galerie and Centrum Galerie. You can leave bikes at the stadium; from there it is about 2 km on foot to the start (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Updates zur Challenge").

Registration from 8 October: booking order sets the price

You register via the Laufszene Meldeportal (registration portal) in three steps: create an account, book places, enter names by 25 May 2027 (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Anmelden). Prices are net, so VAT is added, and depend on the place number (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Es geht wieder los!!!"):

Entering or changing names after 25 May 2027 costs €5 extra per person; changing the team name costs €10. Late bookings still get the regular price if the names are entered within 24 hours. Entries close at 5 pm on race day if places are left; same-day entries cost €5 extra (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen). Booked places cannot be returned, but you can pass them on (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, FAQ). Minimum age is 12 (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, FAQ).

Teams of four, solo runners and the rankings

A team is always four people: all-women, all-men or mixed in any ratio. Companies, universities, clubs and other organisations can enter, and solo runners are welcome too (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen). If someone drops out, either enter a replacement or start incomplete; the system then ranks you as solo runners, without a team time (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, FAQ).

At 9 pm the stadium stage honours the fastest women's, men's and mixed teams plus the organisation with the most runners. In 2026, as in 2025, that was TU Dresden, ahead of SachsenEnergie and Infineon Technologies Dresden (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen). The most creative outfit is voted on Facebook and Instagram after the event, based on photos taken at the photo wall next to the stage.

If you want to race for the win, you can register for the elite block in the first wave at 5 pm. You need a 10 km time under 38 minutes (women 41) or a 5 km time under 18 minutes (women 20) (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, FAQ).

2026: a record, a red carpet and a donation per kilometre

The 17th edition on 17 June 2026 set a record with 32,000 runners; the 30,000 the year before had been one too (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Ausverkauft!"). The first edition in 2009 had 1,743 runners (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Rekord und roter Teppich"). The organiser calls it Germany's second-largest corporate run.

Llewellyn Groeneveld ran the fastest time in 14:48, three seconds ahead of Tore Machnow, whose Dresdner SC/Laufszene Athletics team won the men's team ranking. Theresa Menzel won the women's race in 17:43 and the women's team ranking too. TU Dresden brought more than 500 people (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Rekord und roter Teppich").

For every kilometre each runner covers, 5 cents go to the youth programmes of the Dresdner Citylauf-Verein and Dresdner SC 1898. In 2026 that came to €8,000, and more than €50,000 has gone to local clubs since the first edition (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Informationen).

Ten weeks to your start wave

The organiser offers a ten-week beginner plan: three blocks plus race week, three sessions a week, with walking breaks explicitly allowed at the start (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, Lauftraining). Counting back from 22 June, the plan starts in mid-April 2027. That makes a good date for the internal invitation: build the team in March, start training together in April.

In a team of four it pays not to train only on your own. One fixed weekly session together turns four individual times into a team. If you prefer a bigger group, you will find weekly sessions at the Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs in Dresden. Laufszene also opens the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion once a month for a free "Open Stadium" session, with registration (source: team-challenge-dresden.de, News "Laufszene Open Stadium").

Want to wear a bib before June? In spring there is the Novaled Citylauf Dresden from the same organiser. Want more afterwards? Put the summer into training for the DRESDEN-MARATHON in October. All dates in the city are in our overview of running events in Dresden.

The REWE Team Challenge is a stand-alone event by Laufszene Events GmbH and not part of a series like B2Run or the AOK-Firmenlauf. A similar size is the Firmenlauf Leipzig, and if you like the team format, look at the 5 x 5 km TEAM relay in Berlin.
