EWR*Firmenlauf Remscheid 2027: date, course, awards
On 2 September 2027 the seventh edition runs 4.3 km from the Schützenplatz through two parks. What to know about price phases, deadlines and the six awards, where slogans and costumes count too.

The 7th EWR*Firmenlauf Remscheid takes place on Thursday, 2 September 2027. Start and finish are on the Schützenplatz, the course is 4.3 km and the gun goes at 7 pm (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, home page and Infos Firmen). In 2026 more than 2,200 people from many companies took part (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, home page). What makes this event different is in the list of winners: only some of its six awards are about speed. A company slogan or a good costume gets your team on stage just as well as a fast time.
Six awards, and only some are about speed
At the awards ceremony, the top three in six categories are honoured (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Läufer):

The most creative outfit wins a challenge trophy with a lion's head that the winners can keep in their office for a year. The team from Logopädie und Ergotherapie Neubert won it in 2025 and 2026 (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, home page). So a small team has a real chance without a single fast runner.
The past results show how different the routes to the podium are. Vaillant fielded the biggest team every year from 2023 to 2026, with 206 people in 2024 (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Rückblick). The fastest team was HAZET-WERK in 2023, 2024 and 2025, before Vaillant took the title in 2026 (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Rückblick). To win the slogan award you need a good idea and some nerve: in 2019 Wurm GmbH won with "Immer eine WURM-Länge voraus", a pun on being a length ahead (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Rückblick 2019).
One rule to know before recruiting the fastest runner you know: anyone who does not belong to the registered company is not ranked at the awards, nor are national-team athletes who have not been employed in the two years before (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Teilnahmebedingungen). The organiser explicitly rules out "bought-in" runners (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Läufer).
The evening on the Schützenplatz
This is how race day runs (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Firmen):
- 4 pm: gates open
- 6 pm: late entries and name changes close
- 6:45 pm: warm-up
- 7 pm: start
- 8:15 pm: awards
- 8:45 pm: after-run party with music
- 11 pm: end
The course starts on the Schützenplatz and runs via Martin-Luther-Straße into the Stadtpark and on into the Edelhoffpark. Via Hindenburgstraße and past the Sportbad pool it loops back into the Stadtpark and from there to the finish on the Schützenplatz (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Firmen). After about 2.5 km there is water; at the finish you get water, a non-alcoholic drink and fruit (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Läufer). Your time starts when you cross the start line, so lining up further back costs you nothing. Walkers and people with poles line up at the back (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Läufer). Four practical points that are easy to miss (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Firmen and Infos Läufer):
- No showers, no cloakroom, no lockers. There are changing rooms and toilets, so arrive in running kit and leave valuables with colleagues who are not running.
- Hardly any parking. The Schützenplatz does not have enough spaces; the organiser recommends car-sharing. The sat-nav address is Hindenburgstraße 127, 42853 Remscheid.
- You pay with Löwentaler tokens. The team captain can order them in advance by 24 August 2027 on invoice, or you buy them on site. Cups carry a €2.50 deposit.
- Minimum age 15, and no prams, running buggies or dogs.
Entering early pays off
The team captain registers the company, sets a short code and a team motto, and enters runners online; the invoice arrives automatically by email. Companies that took part before use last year's login (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Firmen). The price rises in phases:

Other 2027 deadlines: order team shirts by 16 July, personalised bibs by 16 August, online entries and tokens by 24 August, name changes by 31 August. No changes are possible on 25 and 26 August while bibs are being issued; the team captain collects them on 26 August from noon to 3 pm (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Firmen). For every entry, the organiser NeoMove donates €1 to the Ärztliche Kinderschutzambulanz Bergisch Land, a child protection clinic (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, home page).
From the break room to the start line: eight weeks for 4.3 km
In 2027 the Remscheid run falls on the first Thursday in September. Counting back, an eight-week build-up starts in early July 2027, in the middle of summer and holiday season. That calls for a plan that tolerates gaps:
- Early July: twice a week for 20 to 30 minutes, alternating running and walking. If you did nothing in June, start here. On hot days, go early in the morning or in the evening.
- Mid-July: the team captain needs shirt sizes by 16 July. A good excuse for a first after-work session together, collecting sizes on the spot.
- August: walking breaks get shorter. Aim for one easy 30 to 40 minute run a week without stopping. Then 4.3 km is no problem.
- Last week of August: entries close on 24 August. Anyone still unsure can join the team as a walker; walkers are explicitly welcome (source: remscheid-firmenlauf.de, Infos Läufer).
- Race day: there is a group warm-up on the Schützenplatz at 6:45 pm, so you do not have to warm up alone.
It is easier with a group that already meets regularly. You will find Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs in the region at running in the Bergisches Land.
