Müggelsee Half Marathon 2027: once around the lake

The Müggelsee Half Marathon (Müggelsee-Halbmarathon) is a loop once around the Großer Müggelsee lake, starting and finishing at the Müggelseeperle hotel in Köpenick, with a passage through the Friedrichshagen Spree tunnel (source: ww-sport.de, Müggelsee-Halbmarathon). The 20th edition took place on 18 October 2026 (source: ww-sport.de). The 2027 date is still to come: the organiser, WW-Sportveranstaltungs GmbH, has not published it yet (as of 3 October 2026). Recent editions were held on 19 October 2025 and 18 October 2026, both Sundays in mid-October (source: ww-sport.de).

If you want to run in 2027, know one thing from 2026: online registration closed because the participant cap was reached, and late entry was only possible on site on the Saturday before the race (source: ww-sport.de, home page and registration).

Not a city course: what to expect

If you're used to city courses on closed roads, Müggelsee needs a different approach. The organiser describes the course as a loop on hiking and cycling paths, mostly paved, with cobbled pavements and the passage under the Spree in the tunnel, explicitly flagged "stairs!" (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). Between km 5.5 and 14 half marathon runners must stay on the pavement (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). You run clockwise through the Köpenick forest and the streets of Friedrichshagen, Rahnsdorf and Müggelhort (source: ww-sport.de, registration and directions).

For your race that means:

In 2026 there were drinks stations at km 5.4, 10.9, 16 and 18.8 with still water and tea, plus apples and bananas at the finish (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). Cups are reusable; the organiser asks you to drop them near the station and not in the woods, as the race runs through nature reserves under conditions set by the forestry office and the nature conservation authority (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). Every finisher gets a medal (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations).

Three distances for the whole group

Alongside the half marathon there are 10 km and 5 km races, both out-and-back courses towards the Spree tunnel and back along the south shore (source: ww-sport.de, courses and registration). In 2026 the 5 km started at 10:20 and the 10 km at 10:30, all from the same start and finish (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). On the out-and-back sections: always keep right.

That makes Müggelsee a race a running group can travel to together even if not everyone runs the same distance. The half marathon goes first; the 10 km and 5 km runners start 20 and 30 minutes later and are still back in time to welcome the half marathoners. Minimum ages are 18 for the half, 13 for the 10 km and 12 for the 5 km (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). Our 10K to half marathon training plan shows how to step up. For the long runs beforehand, find a Lauftreff (group run) on Running in Berlin.

Your supporters take the boat

A special feature: in 2026 you could book boat tickets for friends and family along the half marathon course when registering. The boat left the Müggelseeperle at 10:05, stopped at the Spree tunnel (km 5.4) and finally at Müggelhort (km 18.5), from where supporters returned by boat or walked the lakeside path to the finish (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). Tickets were limited, so if you're bringing people in 2027, look out for this option when registering, in case it is offered again.

Getting there: leave early, ideally by boat shuttle

The Müggelseeperle is in Berlin's south-east, about 20 km as the crow flies from the centre. The organiser estimates around 1:30 hours by public transport from Alexanderplatz (source: ww-sport.de, directions). Two ways in:

By car: parking is limited, parking on Müggelheimer Damm is prohibited and vehicles get towed (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations). In 2026 bibs were handed out on Saturday 12:30–16:00 and on race morning from 7:30 at the Müggelseeperle; the organiser asked runners to collect on Saturday if possible (source: ww-sport.de, registration).

Registering for 2027: the 2026 pattern

Neither the 2027 date nor prices are published. The 2026 edition shows how registration works: online only via Davengo, with date-based price tiers, the first of which ran until 31 December of the previous year (source: ww-sport.de, registration).

Registered by Half marathon 10 km 5 km
31.12.2025 €38 €28 €15
30.04.2026 €42 €32 €16
30.06.2026 €44 €34 €17
from 01.07.2026 €47 €37 €18

Source: ww-sport.de, registration and 2026 race regulations. Late entry on site: €3 extra, only on the day before.

No refunds if you don't start (source: ww-sport.de, registration). Anyone who waited in 2026 found online registration closed. For 2027: when it opens, don't wait until summer.

There is a second way to the start line: volunteers who help at the Müggelsee Half Marathon on Saturday and Sunday get a free entry to the organiser's spring race, "Rund um den Müggelturm" (source: ww-sport.de, free entry). Its next edition is announced for 21 March 2027, starting at Seebad Wendenschloss, again with half marathon, 10 km and 5 km (source: ww-sport.de, Müggelturm-Lauf).

How big is it?

The organiser does not publish an official participant count. The portal sports-insider.de wrote in 2024 of around 3,000 participants a year (source: sports-insider.de, November 2024). The organiser links results for 2024 and 2025 (source: ww-sport.de); according to the regulations, 2026 results are published on Davengo straight after the race (source: ww-sport.de, 2026 race regulations).

In Berlin's running year

Müggelsee is the quiet autumn half marathon in the south-east. The big road version is the Berlin Half Marathon, and die Generalprobe adds another half marathon in the city. All dates are in the overview of running events in Berlin. For a half marathon in another big city, see our guide to the hella hamburg halbmarathon.
