Running Events in Frankfurt 2027: From the Marathon to the JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge

In Frankfurt, the running year plays out in three places. There's the Main, whose banks you run along with a view of the skyline – lap after lap in spring, at night in late summer and over the last 42 kilometres of the IRONMAN. There's the Stadtwald around the Deutsche Bank Park, where the half marathon, the Silvesterlauf and a corporate run start. And there are the high-rises: Germany's oldest city marathon finishes in the Festhalle at the Messe, and right next door, more than a thousand people race up the stairs of the MesseTurm once a year. On top of that, one June evening brings one of the biggest corporate running events in the world, when more than 60,000 employees run through the city centre.

This overview shows which events are coming up and who they suit. Where the organizer has already confirmed the 2027 date, it's listed; otherwise we give the date of the last edition for orientation. As of 29 September 2026.

Still in 2026: women's run, marathon and New Year's Eve

Before the end of the year, Frankfurt has three more dates that could hardly be more different: a premiere for women, the city's biggest day of running and a classic in the Stadtwald.

On 14 October 2026 the Women's Journey, a new series of women's runs, comes to Frankfurt for the first time. At the Deutsche Bank Park you run 2.3 km (start 5:30 pm) or 5 km (start 6 pm) in the early evening. The entry fee is €23.23 or €25.50 respectively, and in return you get a running shirt and, at the finish, Prosecco and something sweet (women-journey.com). If you've never run with a race bib, this is a relaxed way in without any pressure to perform.

Eleven days later, on 25 October 2026, the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon gets under way. It's Germany's oldest city marathon: the first one took place in 1981, and 2026 is the 43rd edition. The start is from 10 am in four waves on the Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage at the Messe, and the relay follows at 10:35 am. The special thing is the finish: since 2003 the marathon has ended in the Festhalle, and the course closes after six hours. According to media reports, around 17,000 people registered for the marathon in 2025, a record field. There's no half marathon that weekend, but the supporting programme includes the 4.2 km Mini-Marathon and the 420 m Struwwelpeter-Lauf for children. Registration for 2026 is open, and there's no date for 2027 yet (frankfurt-marathon.com). You'll find the course, schedule and tips for spectators in our Frankfurt Marathon article.

The year closes on 31 December 2026 with the 48th Spiridon Mainova Silvesterlauf (New Year's Eve run). Start and finish are at the Wintersporthalle at the Deutsche Bank Park, and the 10 km are largely flat and measured according to AIMS rules – a good chance for one last personal best of the year. The main race starts at 12:05 pm, preceded by a 200 m race for the little ones and school races over 2 and 4 km. The field is capped at 3,000 people, and in 2025 it was sold out. The first 1,000 entries pay €22, after that it's €26 (spiridon-silvesterlauf.de).

Spring: Stadtwald and the Main riverbank

Frankfurt's running year 2027 begins with two events that complement each other well: a fast half marathon at championship level and an event on the Main where you choose the distance yourself.

The Frankfurter Mainova Halbmarathon on 21 March 2027 is the city's big spring goal. Start and finish are at the Deutsche Bank Park, and the course is entirely on asphalt and largely flat. The main race starts at 10:05 am, five minutes after the elite, because as in 2026, the half marathon also hosts the German Championships. In 2026, 10,553 people crossed the finish line; the 25th edition has 10,500 places, and registration has been open since 28 September 2026 and costs €55 (frankfurter-halbmarathon.de). If you want to run your first half marathon, you get a level course here and a big field that carries you along.

A month later, on 25 April 2027, the Frankfurter Runden (Frankfurt laps) take place for the sixth time, this year in April instead of at the end of May. The idea is simple: a 10 km loop along the Main riverbank with a view of the skyline, which you run one to four times – so 10, 20, 30 or 40 km. Start and finish are below the Holbeinsteg on the Sachsenhausen side, and in 2026 the start blocks went off between 8 and 8:30 am. The organizer addresses all levels and highlights the flat course for personal bests (frankfurter-runden.de). The 40 km are an unusual goal for everyone who wants to run almost the marathon distance once without committing to a marathon.

Going up: the SkyRun in the MesseTurm

Frankfurt is the city of high-rises, so it also has an event that leads upwards. At the SkyRun MesseTurm you climb 1,200 steps and 61 floors, 213 metres of elevation gain in one go. Runners start at ten-second intervals, individually or in teams for companies, fire brigades and emergency services; children run half the distance. The organizer calls it "Europe's No. 1 Towerrun". The 17th edition took place on 7 June 2026 with around 1,200 people; a date for 2027 hasn't been published yet (lf-hessen.de). If you think you're fit, this is where you get to know your legs all over again.

With your team: Corporate Challenge and B2Run

In the banking city, the corporate run isn't a side event but a major occasion. Frankfurt has two of them, and one is in a class of its own.

The JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge is part of what the organizer says is the world's biggest corporate running series, and Frankfurt is its biggest stop. On 3 June 2026 more than 63,000 people from over 2,300 companies ran in the 32nd edition – so many that the city centre becomes a runway that evening. The 5.6 km through the city centre start at 7 pm on the Hochstraße near the Opernplatz and finish at the Senckenberganlage. The entry fee in 2026 was €38, and the event supported the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and the Deutsche Behindertensportjugend (German Disabled Sports Youth). You can only take part through a participating company. The organizer hasn't announced the 2027 date yet (jpmorganchasecc.com).

Much smaller and greener is B2Run Frankfurt. Around 5.4 km lead through the woodland by the stadium, with the finish inside the Deutsche Bank Park. On 3 September 2026, 3,400 people from 209 companies crossed the finish line, around a quarter more than the year before. Individual runners without a team and walkers are welcome too; the 2027 date is still to come (b2run.de).

Triathlon: IRONMAN Frankfurt

At the end of June, Frankfurt belongs to triathlon. The Mainova IRONMAN Frankfurt on 27 June 2027 is the IRONMAN European Championship for the age groups and the pro men. The 3.8 km swim is two laps in the Langener Waldsee south of the city, followed by 180 km on the bike and a marathon over four laps along the Main riverbank, with the finish at the Römerberg. In 2026 the pro race was shortened to 3.8, 125 and 21.1 km because of the heat. The 2027 edition is already fully booked (ironman.com). The day is worth it even without a place: the run laps along the Main are the best spot to watch.

Late summer: at night on the Main

In September, the running year returns to the Main, this time in the dark. The Frankfurter Sparkasse Skylight Run made its debut on 4 September 2026: start and finish at the Holbeinsteg, with the course running along the Main riverbank past the ECB and the Eiserner Steg. The 10 km started at 8 pm, the 5 km at 9:30 pm. The first edition drew 1,081 entries from 54 nations, and 961 people reached the finish. The organizer has announced a second edition for September 2027, but the exact date is still to come (frankfurt-in-bewegung.de). For everyone who'd rather run after work than on a Sunday morning, this is the evening of the year.

For a good cause: Lauf für mehr Zeit

At the Lauf für mehr Zeit (run for more time), Frankfurt runs every September for the AIDS-Hilfe Frankfurt, and the proceeds go directly to its projects. Start and finish are at the Opernplatz, a 5 km loop leads through the city centre, and the 10 km runners do it twice. In 2026 it took place on 13 September: the 5 km run and walk started at 4 pm and the 10 km at 5 pm, preceded by school and children's races. The entry fee was €19, €5 for children, and almost 2,900 people crossed the finish line. The 2027 date hasn't been published yet (lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de). With a walking category and children's races, this is an event you can bring family and friends to.

Planning tips for your running year

Registering early pays off. In 2026 the half marathon was fully booked within twelve hours of registration opening; registration for 2027 has been open since 28 September 2026. The Silvesterlauf was sold out in 2025 too, and the places for IRONMAN Frankfurt 2027 are already gone. At the Corporate Challenge and B2Run, your place depends on your employer, so ask at your company early.

What it costs. The half marathon costs €55, or €60 for late entries. The Silvesterlauf costs from €22, the Lauf für mehr Zeit €19. At the Corporate Challenge it was €38 in 2026, and at the Women's Journey around €23 to €26.

Three places shape Frankfurt's running year. Around the Deutsche Bank Park in the Stadtwald, the half marathon, the Silvesterlauf, B2Run and the Women's Journey start. Along the Main riverbank you'll find the Frankfurter Runden, the Skylight Run and the IRONMAN marathon laps. And between the Messe, the Opernplatz and the high-rises lie the marathon, the Corporate Challenge, the Lauf für mehr Zeit and the SkyRun in the MesseTurm.

Don't train alone

Frankfurt's year has two highlights that carry you through very different seasons: for the half marathon in March, you train in winter in the dark in the Stadtwald, and for the marathon in October, you do the long runs in high summer. Both are easier in a group, and at the start it's nicer when you know someone. Frankfurt has plenty of running groups (Lauftreffs) and run clubs that head out together along the Main or in the Stadtwald. You'll find the right group among the running groups and run clubs in Frankfurt.
