Dreikönigslauf in Degerloch in January, the Stuttgart-Lauf with its half marathon in the NeckarPark in June, two big corporate runs in July and Volksläufe with a long tradition in the city districts: all the key running events in Stuttgart for 2027 – plus what's still coming before New Year's Eve 2026.

Stuttgart has no city marathon, and that says a lot about the running year here. If you run in the Stuttgart basin (Kessel), you rarely run on the flat, and so the action is spread across two levels. Down by the Neckar, in the NeckarPark in Bad Cannstatt, you'll find the big dates: the Stuttgart-Lauf with its half marathon, B2Run with the finish in the MHP Arena and, in summer 2027, a mud run on the Cannstatter Wasen once again. Up on the hills and in the city districts, everything else happens: a corporate run and a charity run on the Waldau, and Volksläufe (community runs) in Degerloch, Feuerbach, Heumaden and Zuffenhausen, some of which already count more than 40 editions.
This overview shows which events are coming up and who they suit. Where the organizer has already confirmed the 2027 date, it's listed; otherwise we give the date of the last edition for orientation. As of 29 September 2026.
| Your goal | Events that fit |
|---|---|
| Your first race bib | FunRun at the Stuttgart-Lauf, Degerlocher 3-Königslauf, Hörnleshasenlauf, Bädleslauf Zuffenhausen |
| Your first half marathon | Stuttgart-Lauf, Heumadener Volkslauf |
| Around ten kilometres | 10 km at the Stuttgart-Lauf, Degerlocher Volkslauf, Feuerbacher Volkslauf, Stuttgarter Silvesterlauf |

| Triathlon | IRONMAN 70.3 Kraichgau |
Before the end of the year, there are two more dates where personal bests aren't the point.
On 8 November 2026 the STELP Spendenlauf (charity run) takes place at the Stadion Festwiese in Bad Cannstatt, for the third time after 2024 and 2025. You run lap after lap for the Stuttgart aid organisation STELP. At the first edition in 2024, according to the organizer, around 300 people took part and raised about €65,000 (stelp.events).
Then on 31 December 2026 comes the Stuttgarter Silvesterlauf (New Year's Eve run) in Weilimdorf, organised by the Sportgemeinde and TSV Weilimdorf, with the Lord Mayor as patron. Start and finish are at the Lindenbachhalle, and the course runs around the Fasanengarten. The main race covers two laps and 11 km (start 2:30 pm), the Hörnleshasenlauf 5.5 km (1:30 pm), plus there's a school race over 2.3 km. According to the organizer's website, the main race costs €12, the Hörnleshasenlauf €7 and the school race €5, or €15 and €10 respectively for late entries (stuttgarter-silvesterlauf.de). At the 33rd edition on New Year's Eve 2025, according to the official results list, 1,718 people crossed the finish line, 820 of them over 11 km.
The 2027 running year begins on the Filderebene plateau. On 6 January 2027 LAC Degerloch invites you to the Degerlocher Volkslauf und 3-Königslauf (community run and Epiphany run), according to the organizer the 44th Volkslauf and the 16th 3-Königslauf. After a lap of the stadium in Degerloch, both courses follow forest paths and woodland-edge trails with some elevation gain, the Volkslauf over 10 km, the 3-Königslauf over 5.4 km (lac-degerloch.de).
On 6 January 2026, according to the official results list, 296 people crossed the finish line, 197 over 10 km and 99 over 5.4 km. A manageable field and a good way to start the year.
The Stuttgart-Lauf of the Württemberg Athletics Association (Württembergischer Leichtathletik-Verband) is the city's biggest running event. Start and finish are in the NeckarPark in Bad Cannstatt around the MHP Arena. The programme includes a half marathon (also as a relay), 10 km, a FunRun and walking over around 5 km, a half marathon for handbikes and wheelchairs and, on Saturday, a Minimarathon and races for the little ones.
The date changes for 2027: according to the organizer, the 34th edition takes place on 5 and 6 June 2027, three weeks later in the year than in 2026, when the event was held on 16 and 17 May. Information on the finish and the start of registration is to follow shortly (stuttgart-lauf.de).
In 2026, according to the organizer, more than 16,500 people came together, around 2,400 children on Saturday and over 14,100 on Sunday. The Stuttgart-Lauf 2026 was also the first running event to receive the DLV label for gender-equitable race announcements. There's no marathon at the Stuttgart-Lauf; the half marathon is the longest distance and, for many, their first.
Alongside the Stuttgart-Lauf, the running year thrives on club races in the city districts: small, often with children's races and a festival, some with a long history. The 2027 dates are still to come; the 2026 dates are given for orientation.
The Feuerbacher Volkslauf of TF Feuerbach has the most editions: the 44th took place on 9 May 2026, and the 5 and 10 km courses lead through the Lindental. According to the official results list, 404 people crossed the finish line, almost half of them in school and children's races, down to the 500 m mini race (tffeuerbach.de).
In June, the university's sports programme invites you to the TK CampUS Run in Vaihingen. You run 6 or 12 km across the campus and through the Pfaffenwald, with the 6 km also open to walkers, and the start is at the stadium on the Allmandring. Not only students and university staff can take part, but everyone, and there's a team ranking. On 18 June 2026, according to the university, almost 1,000 people took part (hochschulsport.uni-stuttgart.de).
If you're looking for a half marathon away from the big crowds, you'll find it in Heumaden. The Heumadener Volkslauf of TSV Heumaden has taken place every year since 2009, with a half marathon since 2018. The largely flat loop leads through Heumaden, Riedenberg and Kemnat, the start is at the Elfriede-Löffler-Sportpark, and afterwards there's a family sports festival. At the 15th edition on 19 July 2026, according to the official results list, 612 people crossed the finish line, 237 of them in the half marathon and the rest over 10.3 and 5.5 km (tsv-heumaden.de).
The nicest finish belongs to the Bädleslauf Zuffenhausen (Bädle is Swabian for the outdoor pool) of SSV Zuffenhausen: start and finish are at the club's own outdoor pool, and use of the pool is included in the entry fee. Alongside 10 and 5.3 km, there's Nordic walking, school and children's races and a family programme. In 2026 it took place for the 22nd time on 19 September (ssv-zuffenhausen.de).
Stuttgart has not one but two big corporate runs, one up on the Waldau and one down in the NeckarPark, only six days apart in 2026.
First up in 2026, on 1 July, was the AOK Firmenlauf Stuttgart (corporate run), organised by BW-Running within the WLV together with AOK Baden-Württemberg. The start is at 6:30 pm at the GAZi-Stadion on the Waldau in Degerloch, followed by an after-run party. At the 19th edition, according to the organizer, around 6,000 people took part, individually or as a company team (stuttgart.bw-running.de).
Six days later, on 7 July 2026, came B2Run Stuttgart with 7,000 people, according to the organizer. The roughly 5 km lead through the NeckarPark, with the finish in the MHP Arena (b2run.de).
Smaller is the AOK Firmenlauf Feuerbach in the north of Stuttgart: 5 km from the Sportpark Feuerbach, start at 6 pm, again followed by an after-run party. For the 9th edition on 17 September 2026, 1,203 people had registered by the entry deadline. Since 2019, people with and without disabilities have started here in the same field (feuerbach.bw-running.de). The 2027 dates for all three runs are still to come.
After two years without a Stuttgart date, the schauinsland Muddy Angel Run is back: according to the organizer, on 31 July 2027 it's through the mud again on the Cannstatter Wasen. The run is for women only, and around 5 km await you with 18 obstacles designed as team obstacles. Part of the proceeds from the add-on packages goes to initiatives against breast cancer (muddyangelrun.com).
The Stuttgarter LebenSlauf is a solidarity and charity run against discrimination and for the rights of queer people, organised by Abseitz Stuttgart together with tus Stuttgart. The proceeds go to five social projects, including "Frauen helfen Frauen" (Women help women) and the Förderkreis krebskranke Kinder (support association for children with cancer). In 2026 it took place for the 20th time on 20 September, moving for the first time from the city centre to the Festwiese in front of the Karl-Wolz-Halle on the Waldau. You run 9.5 or 5.5 km, and there are separate races for children. The 2027 date is still to come (abseitz.de).
There's no triathlon in Stuttgart itself. The nearest IRONMAN is around 60 km to the northwest in the Kraichgau: the IRONMAN 70.3 Kraichgau on 23 May 2027 starts with a 1.9 km swim in the Hardtsee near Ubstadt-Weiher, followed by 90 km on a rolling bike course through the hill country and 21.1 km over three run laps through Bad Schönborn, where the finish is too. The same weekend also brings the 5150 Kraichgau over the short distance. According to the organizer, you can get there by train in around an hour and a half (ironman.com). In 2026, according to press reports, 2,219 athletes crossed the finish line, a record. Two weeks later comes the Stuttgart-Lauf – if you want to do both, you'll need to plan well.
Keep an eye on the start of registration. The Stuttgart-Lauf date is set, but the start of registration isn't yet. At the corporate runs, your place depends on your employer, so ask at your company early whether a team is being entered.
What you can expect to pay. Most organizers only publish their prices when registration opens. So far, only the Silvesterlauf prices are on the organizer's website: €12 for the main race, €7 for the Hörnleshasenlauf and €5 for the school race, or €15 and €10 respectively for late entries.
Expect elevation gain. Stuttgart lies in a basin, and many Volksläufe follow forest paths and woodland-edge trails, for example in Degerloch or through the Lindental in Feuerbach. If you want to run for time, the Stuttgart-Lauf in the NeckarPark and the largely flat loop in Heumaden are the better goals.
Two places shape Stuttgart's running year. The NeckarPark and the Cannstatter Wasen are home to the Stuttgart-Lauf, B2Run, the Muddy Angel Run and the STELP Spendenlauf. On the Waldau in Degerloch, the AOK Firmenlauf and the LebenSlauf take place, and Degerloch is also where the year begins, with the Dreikönigslauf.
Stuttgart's running year 2027 has one clear highlight: the half marathon at the Stuttgart-Lauf in early June. The long runs for it fall in spring, and in Stuttgart you can hardly avoid hills. Both are easier in a group, and Stuttgart has plenty of running groups (Lauftreffs) and run clubs that head out together. You'll find the right group among the running groups and run clubs in Stuttgart.
