Running Events in Wiesbaden 2027: City Marathon, Berglauf and 25-Stunden-Lauf

In Wiesbaden, running often starts uphill. Above the city lie the Neroberg and the Platte, and behind them the Taunus with the Kellerskopf, and on the forest paths up there you'll find the Berglauf (hill run), the Neroman triathlon and the Lauf Rund um den Kellerskopf, which took place for the 67th time in 2026. Down in the city it gets flatter: the City Marathon starts at the Kranzplatz and runs through the city centre in the evening, once a year the Kurpark belongs to the relay teams for 25 hours, at the Warmer Damm people run for a good cause, and in the Biebricher Schlosspark they run cross-country. Far to the east, on the Maaraue at the mouth of the Main, there's a spring classic that looks like Mainz on paper but belongs to Wiesbaden.

Still in 2026: cross-country in the Schlosspark and a Christmas run

Wiesbaden's big events for 2026 are behind us; towards the end of the year things get smaller and more family-like.

On 21 November 2026 the TV Waldstraße invites runners to the Waldsträßer Crosslauf (cross-country run) in the Biebricher Schlosspark, according to the club for the 34th edition. You run a flat loop over 6.1 or 3.1 km, plus children's and youth races for all age groups. For a first cross-country race, this is a friendly setting (tv-waldstrasse.de).

On Boxing Day, people traditionally meet at the valley station of the Nerobergbahn for the Wiesbadener Gänsebratenvernichtungslauf (literally "roast goose destruction run") of the LC Olympia. It's explicitly not a race: there's no timing, and you run a loop of around 8 km for a small contribution. It last took place on 26 December 2025 for the 19th time; the club hasn't announced the 2026 edition yet (lcolympia.de).

Spring: Neroberg, Maaraue and Warmer Damm

Wiesbaden's spring has three very different events – one with climbs, one for speed and one for a good cause.

It starts in March with the Berglauf "Auf die Platte – fertig – los!" (hill run "On your marks, get set, Platte!") of the LC Olympia. The start is at the climbing park on the Neroberg, and from there you run on forest paths around the Neroberg and the Platte. You can choose between 9.2 km with around 190 m of climbing, 15.6 km with around 400 m and 27.4 km with around 700 m. In 2026 the Berglauf took place on 7 March for the 30th time; the 2027 date hasn't been published yet (lcolympia.de).

The Maarauelauf of the TV Kostheim, on the other hand, is flat. The Maaraue lies at the mouth of the Main where it flows into the Rhine, and although the district is called Mainz-Kostheim, it belongs to Wiesbaden: Kostheim is one of the three so-called AKK districts (Amöneburg, Kastel, Kostheim) on the right bank of the Rhine. You run a loop over 11.1 or 7.4 km, plus 7.4 km walking, 3.7 km for children and young people and 400 m for the little ones. The Maarauelauf is the official preparation race for the Gutenberg-Halbmarathon Mainz. The participant limit is 750, and at the 32nd edition on 12 April 2026, according to the results list, 671 people reached the finish across all categories. The 2027 date hasn't been published yet (maarauelauf.de).

In early May, the Charity Walk & Run Wiesbaden follows at the Warmer Damm, part of a nationwide series by the youth organisation Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya. There are 10 km, 5 km, 5 km walking and an 800 m children's race, and the entry fees go to social organisations – in 2026 to the Zwerg Nase Stiftung, the Bärenherz Stiftung and Humanity First. The last edition was on 3 May 2026; there's no date for 2027 yet (charity-walk.de).

June: the City Marathon Wiesbaden

In June, the city centre belongs to the runners. The City Marathon Wiesbaden is an evening race starting at the Kranzplatz with courses through the city. Alongside the marathon there's a marathon relay, a half marathon, 10, 5 and 3 km. The Firmenlauf Wiesbaden (corporate run) is integrated: teams of three run 5 km together. On the day before, there's also a school class run. The 5th edition took place on 20 June 2026; in previous years the event was called IKANO Bank City Marathon. We couldn't find a participant number from the results; beforehand, the organizer expected around 5,000 participants – an expectation, not a counted figure. The 2027 date hasn't been published yet (sporthilfe-wiesbaden.de).

For many people in Wiesbaden, this is the obvious way in: 5 km in a company team or on your own, and if you want more, the half marathon and the marathon give you the next goal right in the same programme.

Triathlon at the Neroberg

At the Neroman Cross-Triathlon of the LC Olympia, you swim in the heated open-air pool on the Neroberg, and the bike and run courses lead over forest paths. The main distance covers 0.5 km of swimming, 20 km on the bike and 5 km of running, plus a shorter beginners' and youth course over 0.3, 9 and 2 km and a relay category. At the 28th edition on 9 May 2026, according to a report by wiesbadenaktuell.de, 280 people reached the finish. The 2027 date hasn't been published yet (lcolympia.de).

Autumn: 25 hours in the Kurpark and the Kellerskopf

In September, Wiesbaden has two events that could hardly be more different.

At the WISPO 25-Stunden-Lauf (25-hour run), the Kurpark keeps running for a day and a night. Teams take turns on a loop of around 925 m, and there's also an individual category. Entry fees and per-lap donations go to Wiesbaden's youth sports funding. According to the organizer, 65 teams and six solo runners took part in 2026. The 22nd edition is on 11 and 12 September 2027 (wispo-online.de).

Two weeks later, things head into the Taunus in Rambach. The Lauf Rund um den Kellerskopf (run around the Kellerskopf) of the TuS Rambach took place on 27 September 2026 for the 67th time. The start is at the Rambach sports ground, and the courses lead through the forest around the Kellerskopf: 21 km, 10.5 km, 6 km, 3 km, 1.3 km and a 500 m children's race. Nearby: IRONMAN Frankfurt

There's no longer an IRONMAN in Wiesbaden; the IRONMAN 70.3 Wiesbaden is no longer held. The nearest long distance is around 40 km away: the Mainova IRONMAN Frankfurt on 27 June 2027, which is also the IRONMAN European Championship. You swim 3.8 km in the Langener Waldsee, followed by 180 km on the bike and a marathon, with the finish on the Römerberg. Registration for 2027 is sold out (ironman.com).

Planning tips for your running year

Many dates are still pending. So far, only the WISPO 25-Stunden-Lauf (11 and 12 September) and IRONMAN Frankfurt (27 June) have confirmed their 2027 dates. For all other events we give the date of the last edition – the rhythm is usually similar, but only the organizer's official announcement is binding.

Mind the limits. At the Maarauelauf the field is capped at 750, and in 2026, 671 people reached the finish (maarauelauf.de). At IRONMAN Frankfurt the places for 2027 are already taken (ironman.com).

One club, three events. The Berglauf, the Neroman Cross-Triathlon and the Gänsebratenvernichtungslauf are all organised by the LC Olympia Wiesbaden, all around the Neroberg. If you get used to running there, you'll already know the paths.

The Maaraue as a dress rehearsal. The Maarauelauf in April is the official preparation race for the Gutenberg-Halbmarathon Mainz – handy if you're working towards a half marathon in spring.

Don't train alone

Wiesbaden's year has a clear goal in the middle: the City Marathon in June, for which the long runs fall in spring. If you want to collect some climbing on top, you'll find plenty of it on the Neroberg and in the Taunus. It's easier in a group, and at the start it's nicer when you know someone.
