3.3, 6.6 or 9.9 kilometres on the same flat lap on Pascalstraße: at the Aachener Firmenlauf everyone on the team picks their own distance. What you need to know about scoring, registration and the 2027 date.

The Aachener Firmenlauf (Aachen corporate run) has just one lap: 3.3 kilometres through the Pascalstraße business park, flat, with a detour across a factory site. Run it once and you've done 3.3 km, twice makes 6.6 km, three times 9.9 km (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, course). That's the appeal for company teams: colleagues with very different fitness levels can start on the same afternoon, each on the distance that suits them. The 13th edition took place on Friday, 3 July 2026, with 5,190 finishers across the three races (Source: my.raceresult.com, 2026 results). The 2027 date has not been published yet (as of 3 October 2026).
| Distance | Laps | Start 2026 | Time limit | Finishers 2026 | Fastest time 2026 |

Each start is capped at 2,500 runners, a limit agreed with the city and the public order office (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, homepage and FAQ). Once a distance is full there's a waiting list the company captain can view in the online portal (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, FAQ). Everyone may start on one distance only; multiple entries are disqualified (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race rules).
Choosing the distance is the key team decision in Aachen, and it's made months ahead, because each company team is assigned to one distance when it registers (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, info for company captains). A few rules of thumb derived from the time limits:
Factor in the time of day, too: in 2026 the 3.3 km started on a Friday at 16:00, with the opening at 15:30 (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race day). Short-distance runners need to leave work early. The 9.9 km at 18:00 fits a normal working day better, but means a longer wait for the awards at 19:30.
A team enters the team ranking once it has four runners. Larger teams are split into groups of four in the order they finish: the fastest four are "Team 1", the next four "Team 2", and so on, ranked separately for men and women. For the mixed ranking each group of four must include at least one woman and one man (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race rules). For each distance, awards go to the fastest company teams (men, women, mixed) and to the fastest woman and man (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, info for runners).
For companies this means: a team of three appears only in the individual ranking; the fourth colleague gets it into the team ranking (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, FAQ). And if you want a fast team, don't spread your strongest runners across three distances – put them on one.
Unlike many open races, the Aachener Firmenlauf takes company affiliation seriously. Only owners, employees and interns of the registered company may start. The employment contract must have begun at least three months before the race, an internship contract more than six months before. Anyone finishing in the top 20 of their ranking may be asked to show their contract and possibly a payslip; failing that means disqualification (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race rules). Besides companies, public authorities, universities and clubs can enter teams (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race rules). The minimum age is 16; apprentices under 18 may start (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race rules). Children, relatives or friends as substitute runners are explicitly not allowed (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race day).
Registration runs through a Firmenkapitän (company captain). They register the company, set up as many teams as they like in the online portal (Aachener Firmenlauf Manager), each with its own password, and share those passwords internally so everyone can sign up themselves (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, info for company captains). The 2026 fee was €33 per person plus 7% VAT (€2.31). The invoice goes to the captain after registration closes; whether the company pays or everyone chips in is up to each employer (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, info for runners). According to the organiser, the fee covers timing, an online certificate, a finisher shirt, a finisher video, free photos, changing rooms, showers and refreshments, among other things (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, info for runners). Withdrawals aren't provided for, but a substitute runner from the same company is (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, FAQ).
Registration for 2026 ran from 25 February to 2 July, 13:00 (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, info for company captains). The captain collected bibs for the whole company – in 2026 on the two days before the race at Intersport Drucks on Alexanderstraße, or on race day from 15:00 at the info point (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, info for company captains). For a team base along the course you can rent gazebos called MeetingPoints; in 2026 they cost €400 to €2,500 depending on size and location (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, MeetingPoints).
Start and finish are on Pascalstraße near Hirzenrott. The lap heads towards Schleckheim along Nerscheider Weg to the SCHUMAG company site, crosses the factory grounds, returns on the other side and loops through inner Pascalstraße back to the start (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, course). The organiser promises "surprises" on the factory site and in inner Pascalstraße without saying what they are.
Elevation ranges from 281 to 286 metres above sea level – five metres in total (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, course). On the 6.6 or 9.9 km, use the first lap to settle in: you see every section more than once and know exactly where to push on lap two. Headphones are banned on the course; faster runners keep left, slower ones right (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race day).
There's no parking at the course. In 2026 there were four free car parks with a guidance system, best reached via Monschauer Straße. A free shuttle ran from the Kinkebahn car park from 15:00, with the last return around 20:00. The organiser explicitly suggests jogging to the start from the other car parks as a warm-up (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, getting there).
By bus, ASEAG lines 11 (stop Erlenpütz) and SB 63 (Oberforstbach Gewerbegebiet) take you to the course at the normal fare. Line E brings you back to Aachen Hauptbahnhof free of charge (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, getting there). If someone drops you off, use the kiss-and-ride area, reached via Raafstraße (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, getting there).
The Aachener Firmenlauf comes with its own preparation: in 2026 a free Lauftreff (group run) for all starters took place on six Thursdays from 21 May to 2 July, 17:30 to 18:30, led by certified MedAix running coaches. The meeting point was Pascalstraße 35, right on the race course (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race preparation). Join in and you'll know the lap by race day. The focus is on running drills, strength and stretching (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, race preparation).
Six sessions aren't a training plan, though. If you're going for 6.6 or 9.9 km, add one or two runs a week, ideally with others. You'll find regular groups and run clubs under running in Aachen – also worth a look after the race if you want the one-off event to become a habit.
The Aachener Firmenlauf was founded in 2012 by MedAix, Intersport Drucks and the health insurer BARMER and is run as a non-profit company. According to the organiser, €215,000 has gone to Aachen projects in health, sport, inclusion and integration since the first race (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, beneficiaries and FAQ). For 2026 the organiser stated a donation of at least €10,000 (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, homepage).
Aachen has two big corporate runs, and they're quite different. B2Run Aachen is part of the nationwide B2Run series; in 2026 it took place on 28 April at the Allianz Park at the CHIO showground, on a loop of about 5 km through the Soers and past the Tivoli stadium, with 3,500 participants (Source: b2run.de, Aachen). The Aachener Firmenlauf is a local event with three distances on one lap, held in July 2026 on Pascalstraße, where 5,190 runners finished. If your company does both, the spring B2Run makes a good dress rehearsal for the longer distances on Pascalstraße. Every other race in the city is listed under running events in Aachen.
No 2027 date has been published on the organiser's site (as of 3 October 2026). The last edition was on Friday, 3 July 2026 (Source: aachener-firmenlauf.de, homepage). Until it's announced, captains can make good use of the time by collecting who wants to run, and on which distance.
