B2Run Aachen opens the series every spring: about 5 km through the Soers, finishing in the CHIO show-jumping stadium, with around 3,500 participants in 2026. The 2027 date is still to come – and if you want to start, start in winter.

B2Run Aachen is the event that opens the B2Run season: on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, the 12th edition around the CHIO grounds kicked off the nationwide series with around 3,500 participants, once again more than the year before (source: b2run.de, Aachen press release 2026). The finish is inside the CHIO show-jumping stadium. The 2027 date is still to come; B2Run had not announced it as of 3 October 2026. Because Aachen is the earliest date in the series, one question matters more here than anywhere else: how do you get from zero to five kilometres over the winter?
Aachen is not a mass event like the series' big stadium races – which is exactly what makes it pleasant for beginners. Some numbers for context:

Two start times instead of nine as in Cologne (source: b2run.de, Cologne A-Z) means a whole company team starts within a quarter of an hour, and nobody waits two hours for the last colleagues. Prices in 2026 were also lower than at the big venues. Spectators get onto the grounds and into the stadium without a fan ticket, and on site you can pay cash, by card or with vouchers (source: b2run.de, Aachen A-Z). How team captains, team rankings and price tiers work across the series is explained in our B2Run 2027 overview.
The approx. 5 km loop runs through the Soers area and around the CHIO grounds, including the dressage stadium, the Soers sports park and past the Tivoli football stadium, and finishes in the CHIO show-jumping stadium (source: b2run.de, Aachen course). The organiser describes it as mostly flat. The course page has a downloadable map and a virtual course video.
For beginners it's a good mix: little climbing, short stretches between sections, and the dressage stadium gives you a taste of stadium atmosphere along the way. According to the schedule the first finisher arrives in the stadium around 6:45 pm (source: b2run.de, Aachen A-Z) – for everyone else the finish stays open until the award ceremony from 7 pm.
A late-April date means preparation falls into January, February and March. The event was held on 29 April in 2025 and on 28 April in 2026 (source: b2run.de, Aachen press releases 2025 and 2026). Whether it will be late April again in 2027 is not confirmed. Still, count backwards now: if you don't run at all yet, what you need most is time and regularity, not toughness.
Walking is explicitly allowed at B2Run: with a Funstarter ticket you may walk in any start block, without poles; Nordic walkers start in the second start time (source: b2run.de, Aachen A-Z). If you end up walking into the stadium, you belong there just as much.
Winter is hardest alone. It gets easier with a fixed evening when someone is waiting for you – colleagues after work or an open group. Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs with weekly meet-ups in the city are listed under running in Aachen. If you want more after B2Run, you'll find other races in the Aachen race calendar and a plan for the next step in our 5 to 10 km training plan.
At the front, Aachen is fast. In 2026 Frederik Ruppert (Absolute Teamsport) won in 14:15 minutes, ahead of Lothar Wyrwoll (Trianel GmbH) in 16:14. The women's race went to Nina Ruppert, also Absolute Teamsport, in 18:41 ahead of Jana Echterhoff in 19:14. Both Rupperts had already won in 2025 and improved their times (source: b2run.de, Aachen press releases 2025 and 2026).
In "Die Fittesten" (the fittest), the ranking of the biggest teams, Aachen's numbers are small enough for a mid-sized company to finish at the top:
| Category | 1st | 2nd | 3rd |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corporation | Rhein-Maas Klinikum, 124 | City of Aachen, 57 | Alexianer-Region Aachen/ViaNobis, 39 |
| Company | LANCOM Systems, 69 | PROVINZIAL Regionaldirektion Aachen, 66 | Trianel GmbH, 62 |
| Small business | SCHAAF GmbH & Co. KG, 27 | ConSense GmbH, 25 | Wickey GmbH & Co. KG, 25 |
(Source: b2run.de, Aachen press release 2026)
27 people were enough to win the small-business ranking in 2026, 69 the company ranking. Rhein-Maas Klinikum also fielded the biggest charity team with 124 charity starters; 276 people started as charity starters in total (source: b2run.de, Aachen fittest teams 2026).
Besides B2Run, Aachen has a second big corporate run. The Aachener Firmenlauf (Aachen company run) is a separate event with its own organiser and took place on Friday, 3 July 2026, on Pascalstraße (source: aachener-firmenlauf.de). B2Run opens the season in April at the CHIO grounds; the Aachener Firmenlauf is in summer.

After the finish the evening continued in 2026 with a live DJ at the get-together in the B2Run Village (source: b2run.de, Aachen press release 2026). And if the April season opener gives you a taste for the big finale in NRW: B2Run Cologne in the RheinEnergieSTADION took place in September in 2026.
