B2Run Hanover 2027: 6.5 km Around the Maschsee

On Wednesday, 27 May 2026, 16,000 people from 687 companies ran once around the Maschsee lake and into the stadium at B2Run Hanover – more than ever before (Source: b2run.de, press release Hanover 2026). The organiser has not yet published the date of the next edition: 2027 date to follow (as of 3 October 2026, Source: b2run.de). Two things are already clear, though: Hanover asks for more kilometres than any other B2Run city, and if you book late, you end up on the waiting list.

How the series works in general – team captain, five-person ranking, price tiers – is covered in our overview B2Run 2027. This page is about what only Hanover has.

6.5 kilometres: why Hanover is different

Most B2Run courses are between 5 and 6 kilometres long. Cologne measures about 5.3 km, Berlin 5.7 km, Nuremberg 6.1 km – Hanover comes to about 6.5 km (Source: b2run.de, course pages of the 2026 locations). That makes the loop around the Maschsee the longest in the series. The organiser describes it as varied and largely flat, with the finish in the Heinz von Heiden Arena (Source: b2run.de, course Hanover).

For the front runners, 1.5 kilometres more than elsewhere hardly matters. For people who are just starting out, it does: if you can currently run 30 minutes without stopping, at a relaxed pace of 7 minutes per kilometre you'll be out there for a good 45 minutes. That is the real reason to start training earlier for Hanover than for a 5 km company run. Walking is allowed, walkers can start in any block, and Nordic walkers with poles start from their own area in the last wave (Source: b2run.de, A-Z Hanover).

Sold out on 24 April: lessons from 2026

On 24 April 2026, a good month before the event, the organiser announced that all start places were gone, no last-minute tickets either, only a waiting list (Source: b2run.de, press release "sold out"). By then all three price tiers were exhausted: €31.90 at the opening rate, €34.90 early bird, €37.90 regular, each plus VAT (Source: b2run.de, A-Z Hanover). The tiers don't change by date but as soon as a quota is sold.

For your team, that means: as soon as the shop opens for 2027, decide quickly who books and how many places. You can add more places as long as some are left. Large companies can also request premium team packages directly from the location manager; in 2026, Silver (50 start places, a meeting point in the stands) cost €2,190 and Gold (100 start places with a team tent and up to 100 fan tickets) €4,050, net of VAT (Source: b2run.de, A-Z Hanover).

The evening at the Maschsee, hour by hour

This is how the day ran in 2026 (Source: b2run.de, A-Z Hanover):

Time What happens
4:00 pm Entry to the B2Run Village at the north entrance, cloakroom in the north stand
from 4:30 pm DJ and host in the village
from 5:00 pm Warm-up and line-up on the north shore of the Maschsee
5:30 pm First start wave, then the next one every 15 minutes
8:00 pm Award ceremony and get-together
10:00 pm End

In 2026 the first wave started half an hour earlier than in 2025, and an extra start block was added, making eight waves in total (Source: b2run.de, press releases January and May 2026). Plan for the wait: if you start in a late wave, you'll be lining up on the north shore a good hour and a half after the first.

Three practical points from the A-Z: there are no showers or changing rooms in Hanover. Each person may bring one PET bottle of up to one litre onto the grounds, no other drinks. And you can't pay cash – only by card or with food vouchers bought in advance (Source: b2run.de, A-Z Hanover). Spectators need a fan ticket booked in advance in the shop; in 2025 the roughly 3,000 fan tickets sold out (Source: b2run.de, A-Z Hanover and press release 2025).

Getting there: tram, not the Schützenplatz

The organiser explicitly recommends train or bike. From the main station, Stadtbahn (light rail) lines 3 and 7 go to Waterloo or Stadionbrücke, line 9 to Waterloo and line 17 to Stadionbrücke; bus lines 100 and 200 stop at Robert-Enke-Straße right by the arena. By car, only the eastern half of the Schützenplatz car park is available, and it fills early when it gets busy (Source: b2run.de, A-Z Hanover). The 2026 A-Z doesn't say whether your bib counts as a transit ticket – if in doubt, buy one.

The numbers from 2026

The 16th edition brought about 2,000 more participants than the year before (Source: b2run.de, press releases "sold out" and May 2026). In 2025 there had been 14,000 from 530 companies (Source: b2run.de, press release 2025).

HDI won two of the team rankings in 2026: men's in 1:52:27 hours for five runners, women's in 2:21:23. The fastest mixed team was NORD/LB in 2:03:53 (Source: b2run.de, press release Hanover 2026).

In "Die Fittesten" (The Fittest), the ranking for the biggest teams, NORD/LB came first again with 600 people – up from 500 the year before. Among mid-sized companies, Bahlsen led with 110 starters as in 2025, and among small businesses GFK Ingenieure GmbH with 70 (Source: b2run.de, press releases 2025 and 2026). The biggest charity team was Rossmann with 379 runners who each donated an extra €5 (Source: b2run.de, "Die Fittesten" Hanover 2026).

From zero to 6.5 km by late May

The last two editions fell in late May and early June (Source: b2run.de). If the 2027 date lands in a similar spot, beginners should start preparing in late winter. A framework you can share with colleagues:

It's easiest to stick with it when someone is waiting for you. Hanover has open Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs with fixed weekly times; you'll find an overview at Running in Hanover. Join one for two or three weeks and you can bring your colleagues along afterwards.

What else is on in Hanover

B2Run isn't the only big event in the city. The year's dates are collected on running events in Hanover. If the company run gives you a taste for longer distances, our guide to the ADAC Marathon Hannover has your next goal.

Registration and all details for the next edition are on the official B2Run Hanover page.
