Not a race, but a shared trip through the mud

The organiser describes the Muddy Angel Run as a women's run for every fitness level, where atmosphere, mud and obstacles come first. You set your own pace – walking, jogging or crawling – and you can skip any obstacle you want (source: muddyangelrun.com, race day page). The organiser puts the average time for the 5 km at about an hour (source: muddyangelrun.com, race day page).

The obstacles call for skill, courage and cooperation: hanging, sliding, climbing, crawling. Since the 2026 season there have been 18 instead of 15, five of them new (source: muddyangelrun.com, race day page). The Berlin page mentions a foam party, a grid pool and, new, a "Schwebebahn" (suspension railway) obstacle (source: muddyangelrun.com, Berlin 2027). If you come alone, the organiser says you won't stay alone for long – helping each other on the course is part of the idea.

The series is run by XLETIX GmbH, founded in Berlin in 2013, which also organises the XLETIX Challenge and XLETIX Kids (source: muddyangelrun.com, company page). The 2027 calendar has 14 dates, from Dresden in May to Berlin in September; Berlin is the last stop of the season (source: muddyangelrun.com, Berlin 2027).

Where the donation goes

The Muddy Angel Run sees itself as a platform against breast cancer, built on awareness, exercise and donations (source: muddyangelrun.com, charity page). In concrete terms:

If someone in your group is or has been affected, it's worth talking about it beforehand and deciding together how much of a statement the day should be. Some want to use it as a sign of solidarity, others simply want a Saturday in the mud with friends. Both are fine.

Tickets and registering as a team

The Berlin ticket shop offers three options. Prices are as of early October 2026, when the U26 ticket and the Premium package were discounted from their regular price (source: shop.ticketpay.de, Berlin 2027):

If you'd like to start for free, you can volunteer and help with set-up or on event day; the shop lists Berlin shifts from Wednesday, 15 September 2027 (sources: muddyangelrun.com, Berlin 2027; shop.ticketpay.de, Berlin 2027).

For groups, one step matters most: every ticket has to be personalised after purchase, and only if you set up a team in advance are you guaranteed a shared start time (source: muddyangelrun.com, Berlin 2027). The exact start time arrives about two weeks before the event, so in early September 2027.

From zero to five kilometres: a summer with your group

Because walking is allowed, you don't need to be able to run 5 km non-stop. The day is more fun, though, with a bit of base fitness. The organiser has published its own training plan with its fitness partner LAUFMAMALAUF (source: muddyangelrun.com, race day page). Counting back from 18 September, a relaxed summer could look like this:

It's easier in twos or fours. If you're looking for people to run with regularly in Berlin, you'll find Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs on Running in Berlin. Many groups have sessions for all paces, including for people getting back into running.

Race day in Karlshorst

Be at check-in at least an hour before your start time with your ticket, photo ID (a copy or photo is fine) and the signed liability waiver; minors need a consent form (source: muddyangelrun.com, race day page).

Pack a change of clothes, spare shoes and a bag for the muddy kit. The organiser recommends comfortable trainers, close-fitting clothes that soak up less water, a hairstyle that stays put, and leaving loose jewellery at home (source: muddyangelrun.com, race day page). After the finish there are cold-water wash stations, which the organiser calls "obstacle 19".

Spectators don't need a ticket and, unlike at the Obstacle City Run, dogs on a lead are allowed on site, even though it gets loud and crowded (sources: muddyangelrun.com, Berlin 2027; obstacle-city-run.de, FAQ). The organiser recommends the S3 to Karlshorst or trams M17, 21, 27 and 37 to Hegemeisterweg; parking information is still to come (source: muddyangelrun.com, Berlin 2027).

Looking back, and other dates nearby

At the 2026 Berlin edition at the Karlshorst trotting track, around 6,000 women took part, according to a hauptstadtsport.tv report dated 21 July 2026 (source: hauptstadtsport.tv). In 2027 Berlin moves to September and becomes the series' season finale.

On the same Saturday, 18 September 2027, the Obstacle City Run takes place at the Olympiapark – a mixed obstacle race over 3, 6 or 12 km (source: obstacle-city-run.de, Berlin). Details are in our guide to the Obstacle City Run Berlin. If you'd rather run among women without the mud, our guide to the Frauenlauf Berlin (women's run) covers a road alternative. For every other race in the city, see the running events in Berlin.

Tickets are available via the official Muddy Angel Run Berlin page and the Berlin 2027 ticket shop.
