SportScheck RUN Hamburg 2027: new half marathon around the Alster

In Hamburg the Outer Alster lake sets the measure. One lap, 7.5 kilometres, start and finish on the Alsterwiesen meadows – until now the SportScheck RUN Hamburg built its two distances from that: one lap or two. On 18 June 2027 a third joins them. In its participant guide SportScheck announces a "new" half marathon that starts at 6 pm and circles the lake three times (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027). The race is on a Friday evening in June, three days before the longest day of the year, with the last start at 10 pm.

New for 2027: one evening, three distances

Time Race Laps
6:00 pm Half marathon (new) 3
6:30 pm 1 km toddler run 1
7:00 pm 1.8 km Kids RUN 1
8:00 pm 15 km RUN 2
10:00 pm 7.5 km RUN 1

Start and finish: Alsterwiesen, junction of Milchstraße and Harvestehuder Weg; kids and toddlers have their own start and finish. Source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo (participant guide) Hamburg 2027.

The order makes sense: the half marathon goes first, the short lap last. The Hamburg guide gives no cut-off. If you run the half in two hours, you finish at 8 pm – just as the 15 km starts. The map also marks a separate point where the second and third half-marathon laps begin (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027). Exactly how the 21.1 km split across three laps will be in the info email before the event.

Pacing a lap of the Alster

A loop course is a gift for pacing, because after the first lap you know every section. The course map shows the Kennedybrücke bridge where the Outer meets the Inner Alster, Rothenbaumchaussee, Hallerstraße, Sierichstraße, Langer Zug and Herbert-Weichmann-Straße, plus aid stations, a cheering zone, changing tents and bag drop (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027). The map is stamped "HAM 2026" and is subject to change.

What that means for your evening:

There is water and isotonic drink on the course, and at the finish also bananas, pretzel sticks and drinks from Erdinger Alkoholfrei; only runners wearing the official shirt get access (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027).

Looking back at 2026: more women than men on the short lap

The 19 June 2026 edition still had two distances. 2,015 people finished the 7.5 km and 1,530 the 15 km (source: my.raceresult.com, SportScheck RUN Hamburg 2026).

2026 Finishers Women Fastest woman Fastest man
7.5 km 2,015 1,102 27:44 24:43
15 km 1,530 654 1:00:36 51:56

On the short lap women were clearly in the majority, 1,102 to 898 men. That is a good sign for newcomers: in Hamburg the 7.5 km is not a race for a fast few but the event for anyone who wants an evening by the Alster. The last finishers in 2026 came in after 1:08:31 (7.5 km) and 1:50:51 (15 km) (source: my.raceresult.com, SportScheck RUN Hamburg 2026).

Super Early Bird ends first in Hamburg

Distance Super Early Bird Early Bird Regular
7.5 km €36 €42 €48
15 km €48 €54 €60
Half marathon €66 €72 €78
Kids RUN €8 €9 €10

Source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027. Super Early Bird runs until eight months before the event, Early Bird until four months before. Because Hamburg is the earliest date of the 2027 season, the cheapest tier ends here first: eight months before 18 June 2027 works out to 18 October 2026, and Early Bird to 18 February 2027. SportScheck gives no fixed date; on 4 October 2026 the ticket shop showed "from €36" (source: sportscheck.com, ticket shop Hamburg). SportScheck Club members pay 20% less. The shirt-instead-of-bib rule, ticket terms and pricing are the same in every city – more in our SportScheck RUN overview.

Race packs and getting there

Shirt and chip are handed out Tuesday to Thursday, 15 to 17 June 2027, 10 am to 7 pm at the SportScheck Hamburg store, Mönckebergstraße 18. On the Friday itself from 4 pm in the start/finish area on the Alsterwiesen until one hour before your start (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027). The organiser recommends collecting early and asks runners to come by bus, train or bike where possible (source: sportscheck.com, Starterinfo Hamburg 2027).

Bringing your running group to the Alster

With three start times, Hamburg works well for mixed groups: half marathoners start at 6 pm, are back in time for the 15 km start and can cheer the others; at 10 pm the newcomers run the 7.5 km while everyone else lines the course. Groups can book up to 100 tickets together; for seven or more, one person collects all race packs and announces this by email first (source: sportscheck.com, help pages).

Training laps around the Alster are a Hamburg classic anyway. You will find a Lauftreff (group run) or run club with fixed weekly slots at running in Hamburg. If you ran the Hamburg Marathon in spring, June gives you a shorter, more relaxed goal. And if you want a warm-up three weeks before, the HafenCity Run is a team event without the pressure of the clock. All the city's races are listed at running events in Hamburg.
