B2Run Dortmund 2027: two-stadium course, teams, date

A lap inside SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, a second one in the Stadion Rote Erde, finish in Westfalenpark below the Florianturm tower: the 15th B2Run Dortmund on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, drew more than 11,200 people in 350 teams (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026). B2Run has not announced a 2027 date yet (as of 3 October 2026). So this page focuses on what makes Dortmund special – a course through two stadiums and a team ranking in which the city administration fields almost 1,900 people.

Two stadiums in one evening

The start is at the "Blütengärten" entrance of Westfalenpark. From there the route heads to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, Borussia Dortmund's stadium, and to the Stadion Rote Erde, with a lap inside each. Then it returns to Westfalenpark, where the finish sits in the shadow of the Florianturm (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026). According to the organiser the course is about 5.9 km and mostly flat (source: b2run.de, Dortmund course).

The lap of the Stadion Rote Erde was a special feature in 2026: according to the organiser it hadn't been part of the route "for a long time", and the home ground of Borussia Dortmund's U23 and women's team had celebrated its 100th anniversary in March 2026 (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026). Whether Rote Erde will be included in 2027 is not confirmed. SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, on the other hand, is a fixed part of the Dortmund concept.

For your race, that means: the stadium laps are where everyone slows down to look around, film or take photos. If you're running for time, don't plan a surge there – enjoy the moment and pick up the pace on the way back into Westfalenpark. In 2026 bands played along the course and in front of the stadiums (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026).

A note on comparing times: in 2025 B2Run still listed the Dortmund course at about 5.5 km, in 2026 at 5.9 km (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press releases 2025 and 2026). A 2025 PB can't be compared one to one with 2026.

Seven start blocks, one start bell

In 2026 the field was split into seven start blocks. At 6 pm Bürgermeisterin (mayor) Ute Mais rang the start bell for the Durchstarter (fast runners), then blocks followed every 15 minutes until the last-minute Funstarter and the (Nordic) walkers set off at 7:30 pm (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026).

Die Fittesten: how big a team had to be in 2026

In Dortmund, the "Die Fittesten" (the fittest) ranking – the companies with the most participants – is particularly telling because the numbers are so far apart. The 2026 ranking:

Category 1st 2nd 3rd
Corporation City of Dortmund, 1,856 Continentale insurance group, 361 Klinikum Dortmund, 351
Company Jaeger Gruppe, 125 Thyssengas GmbH, 120 Borussia Dortmund, 105
Small business Frohne Gruppe, 70 Provinzial RD Dortmund, 50 Vitesco Technologies, 40

(Source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026)

The City of Dortmund is almost impossible to catch in the corporate ranking: it fielded 1,420 runners in 2025 and 1,856 in 2026 (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press releases 2025 and 2026). The other two categories are more interesting. Among companies, only 20 people separated first and third place in 2026. Among small businesses, Frohne Gruppe won for the second year in a row, with 56 starters in 2025 and 70 in 2026 (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press releases 2025 and 2026). So if you want a podium with a small company, these numbers suggest you need 40 to 70 people rather than hundreds.

How do you build a team like that? Three things make the difference at this size:

How team rankings, team captains and price tiers work across B2Run is covered in our B2Run 2027 overview.

B2Run or AOK-Firmenlauf?

Dortmund has two big corporate runs. The AOK-Firmenlauf Dortmund is a separate event run by upletics: start at Phoenix-West, 6.7 km around Phoenix-See lake, with a cap of 3,000 places (source: aok-firmenlauf-dortmund.de). B2Run, with more than 11,200 participants, is much larger and the only one of the two with a stadium lap. For an overview of all races in the city, see the Dortmund race calendar.

Getting there, parking and what's not on site

The Dortmund A-Z does not mention free public transport with your bib – plan for a ticket. After the finish, DAK-Gesundheit once again offered calf and thigh massages in 2026 (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026).

Who was fastest

The fastest woman in 2026 was Alexandra Krämer of the City of Dortmund in 22:21 minutes, the fastest man Niklas Röttger of the Dortmund tax offices in 18:58 minutes (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2026). Krämer had already won in 2025, then in 19:55 on the shorter course (source: b2run.de, Dortmund press release 2025).

Nine days after Dortmund, the 2026 B2Run in Düsseldorf took place – in case part of your team fancies a second stadium finish: B2Run Düsseldorf.
