The LAUF FÜR MEHR ZEIT ("run for more time") is a charity run organised by AIDS-Hilfe Frankfurt e.V. (AHF), Frankfurt's AIDS support organisation: entry fees and donations go to the association's projects (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de). Start and finish are at Opernplatz, and the course is a 5 km loop through the city centre. The last edition took place on Sunday, 13 September 2026. The 2027 date has not been published yet (as of 3 October 2026). This page explains how the event works, where the money goes and how your running group can contribute more than just a bib.

The organiser is AIDS-Hilfe Frankfurt e.V. According to the event website, the proceeds go "directly" to the AHF's projects. Entry fees and the sums collected by fundraising runners provide financial support for the association (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de). The race website does not break down which projects benefit from a particular edition.
According to its own website, the AHF's work covers counselling for people living with HIV, prevention and health, a testing service (maincheck_up), drug support and services for children and young people (source: frankfurt-aidshilfe.de).
The run has a long history: according to Journal Frankfurt it took place for the 25th time in 2020, in a scaled-down form because of the pandemic (source: journal-frankfurt.de, 2020). In 2026, just under 2,900 people finished according to the result lists (source: my.raceresult.com, 2026 results). According to a post-race report, donations totalled €76,000, after €82,000 the year before (source: maenner.media, 2026 result).
What sets this event apart from an ordinary city race is the Spendenläufer (fundraising runner). They run for free and collect donations for the AIDS-Hilfe from friends, family, colleagues or their club. The easiest way is your own online fundraising page on the race website; cash or a bank transfer to the support association also work (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de, Spendenaktionen).
The 2026 edition shows how much can come together: the top fundraising runner collected €7,561, and in second place the Regenbogencrew raised €5,640 (source: maenner.media, 2026 result). That is exactly the approach for a running group:
To find Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs to team up with, see running in Frankfurt.
The loop is 5 km long; for the 10 km you run it twice (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de). According to the 2026 course map it goes from Opernplatz via Hochstraße to the Eschenheimer Turm tower, along Stiftstraße and Große Friedberger Straße to the Zeil at Konstablerwache, then through Hasengasse, Töngesgasse and Bleidenstraße to Katharinenpforte, via Steinweg to Kaiserstraße, up Neue Mainzer Straße, past Goetheplatz and Rathenauplatz, through Börsenstraße and Schillerstraße and finally back along Große Bockenheimer Straße to Opernplatz (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de, course map 2026). The Bambini and school runs go out and back along Große Bockenheimer Straße.
The course has many changes of direction in a small area. For your time that means: run the corners tight, accelerate deliberately after each turn, and on the 10 km know where the next corner is on lap two. There is water on Große Friedberger Straße, and at the finish water, alcohol-free beer and Fassbrause (a malt-based soft drink) (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de, FAQ).
All five races take place one after the other, each with its own timing, start and finish (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de). The late 17:00 start of the 10 km is unusual: you can take the morning easy, but on a September afternoon expect warmer conditions than in a morning race. In 2026, according to the report, the event was held in changeable, rainy weather (source: maenner.media, 2026 result).
From the 2026 FAQ (source: lauf-fuer-mehr-zeit.de, FAQ):
Mid-September is the crunch period for many Frankfurt runners before the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon in October. A 10 km city race fits well into these weeks as a tempo test without wrecking your legs for the long runs. The AHF has not yet published the 2027 date. In 2026 it was held on a Sunday in mid-September. More races in the city, from the JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge to the spring half marathon, are listed under running events in Frankfurt.
