The former MOPO Team-Staffellauf is now called RUN5 Teamstaffel: five people, about five kilometres each through the Stadtpark, then a picnic. A Hamburg date for 2027 had not been published by early October 2026; according to the organiser, registration for the 2027 season is possible from 6 October 2026.

Five people, one baton, roughly five kilometres each through Hamburg's Stadtpark (city park), then a picnic on the lawn: that is the RUN5 Teamstaffel (team relay) Hamburg, known until 2025 as the MOPO Team-Staffellauf (source: run5.de, Hamburg). In August 2026, 10,000 people in 2,000 relay teams took part over two sold-out evenings (source: run5.de, 2026 press report). The organiser had not published a Hamburg date for 2027 by early October 2026, but according to the organiser, registration for the 2027 RUN5 season is possible from 6 October 2026 (source: run5.de, home page). If you are the team captain in your company, you can plan early.
In 2025 the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper ended its naming partnership after 17 years (source: mopo-team-staffellauf.de). Since 2026 the event has been called RUN5 TEAMSTAFFEL Hamburg and is the starting point of its own relay series; the format itself has not changed (source: run5.de, 2026 press report). The organiser is Infront B2Run GmbH, the same company behind the B2Run corporate runs (source: run5.de, history).
The difference is how it works: in a classic Firmenlauf (corporate run) everyone starts together and runs the whole course, while at RUN5 you run one after the other and hand over the baton after each leg (source: run5.de, What is RUN5?). If you want to start alongside lots of colleagues at once, B2Run Hamburg in the Volkspark is your event; if you want to run and cheer as a small team, RUN5 in the Stadtpark is.

By early October 2026 the organiser had only published 2027 dates for other locations, such as Lübeck on 29 April and Wiesbaden on 1 June 2027 (source: run5.de, What is RUN5?). Hamburg was listed on the home page as a 2027 stop, but without a date (source: run5.de, home page). The press report says the date will be "announced on the website shortly" (source: run5.de, 2026 press report). For orientation: in 2026 the event was held on Wednesday and Thursday, 19 and 20 August, starting from 17:00 each day (source: run5.de, Hamburg and Hamburg FAQ).
Every relay team needs a captain, even a private group of friends (source: run5.de, team captain info). According to the organiser, registration works like this:
Two points belong in your internal invitation: booked places cannot be cancelled, but someone else can step in, even at short notice via the QR code on the bib (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ). And if you need to recruit colleagues, the organiser provides posters, flyers and intranet text templates (source: run5.de, Hamburg maps).
Why early? Both days in 2026 sold out (source: run5.de, 2026 press report). And in 2026 the opening rate was €25 per team cheaper than the standard price (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ). Whether 2027 is tiered the same way had not been published by early October 2026.
The course loops through the Stadtpark and back through the event area, past the team tents. The organiser compares this stretch to the final climb of a Tour de France stage, because people cheer on both sides (source: run5.de, Hamburg maps). Handovers take place in the changeover zone in the middle of the event village (source: run5.de, Hamburg). You receive the baton only when you enter the start pen (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ).
Because only the total time counts (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ), your running order is mostly about mood. A few ideas:
If you want to compete for the ranking, you need five different runners; a team with someone running twice cannot win (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ). For context: the fastest men's team in 2026 needed 1:28:40 (source: run5.de, Hamburg results), an average of just under 17:45 per leg. For most teams something else matters. The organiser itself says the focus is not on personal bests (source: run5.de, Hamburg).
RUN5 explicitly welcomes beginners and walkers (source: run5.de, Hamburg). If you sign up in October and don't run yet, you have plenty of time before a late-summer date. A suggested path:
It is easiest if you don't train alone: set a fixed after-work slot as a team, or join a Lauftreff (group run). Hamburg has many group runs and run clubs with regular weekly sessions. You'll find an overview under running in Hamburg.
On 19 and 20 August 2026 the first edition under the new name took place, sold out on both days (source: run5.de, 2026 press report). The fastest teams:
| Day | Women | Men | Mixed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19 August | Laufwerk Hamburg 2, 1:54:13 | Laufwerk Hamburg 1, 1:33:25 | Hamburger Laufladen 2, 1:33:04 |
| 20 August | Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon Frauen, 1:45:02 | Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon Männer, 1:28:40 | Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon Mix 1, 1:35:49 |

After finishing, every team received a picnic basket packed by apprentices of Dachser Food Logistik (source: run5.de, 2026 press report). A charity option adds €5 per place for the Hamburger Stadtparkverein (city park association); in 2025 this, together with a donation from PSD Bank, raised €17,000 (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ).
Parking around the Stadtpark is limited, and the organiser recommends bus, train or bike; there is bike parking on site (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ). In 2026 the options were:
(source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ). There are changing areas on site, but no showers and no cloakroom. You may bring your own food and drinks (source: run5.de, Hamburg FAQ).
Berlin has a similar format: the 5 x 5 km TEAM-Staffel. If you'd rather start in Hamburg with the whole workforce at once, B2Run Hamburg is the classic alternative. All of the year's races in the city, from the Alsterlauf to the marathon, are listed on running events in Hamburg.
