The S 25 Berlin takes place on Sunday, 18 April 2027, starting in front of and finishing inside the Olympiastadion (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin). It is Germany's oldest city race: the "25 km de Berlin" was first run on 3 May 1981 with 3,000 participants (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, 2026 race report). Today it is a running festival with six races, from a kids' run to the 25 kilometres that give it its name – and one of the few big races where a running group can compete as a team.

The headline race is 25 km – a distance hardly any other big German event offers, longer than a half, far shorter than a marathon. That's the appeal: if you know the half marathon but aren't ready for 42 km, this is the next step with a bib on.
The time limit is generous: 3:15 hours each for 10 km, half marathon and 25 km (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, participant info). For 25 km that's an average of 7:48 min/km – if you can run two hours non-stop in training, you'll finish. There are four to six aid stations, each about 150 metres long, with reusable cups at the first two (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, participant info).
At the front it's fast: in 2026 Esther Yeko Chekwemoi (Uganda) won the 25 km in 1:32:37 and Nikki Johnstone (SCC Berlin) in 1:24:58. The best-known starter was Germany's foreign minister Johann Wadephul, who ran 2:29:40 (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, 2026 race report).
The S 25 used to be a sightseeing tour through central Berlin. With the A100 ring-road bridge closed, the organiser moved the race into the Grunewald (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin) and expects to use "the 2026 routes again" in 2027 (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, news of 10.07.2026).
The 2026 courses (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, news of 16.04.2026):
Pacing tip: Kronprinzessinnenweg is a long, straight forest stretch with few spectators or landmarks – easy to run too fast. Havelchaussee afterwards is where you find out whether your pace was right. The organiser doesn't publish an official elevation figure; the current route is shown as a Google Maps link on the homepage (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin).
Then comes what defines the S 25: all distances enter the stadium from the north side and finish on the blue track (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, participant info); in 2026 that included a lap of the stadium (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, 2026 race report). Spectators get in free, in blocks Q to T (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, participant info).
For running groups, the S 25 TeamRun is the race to pick. Five people run the 5 km course through the Olympic Park and their individual times are added up. Only mixed teams are ranked, and there is no individual ranking (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, TeamRun). The time limit is 45 minutes, so it works for groups where not everyone is fast. In 2026 the TeamRun was won by the Berlin Social Runners in 1:30:35 (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, 2026 race report) – a run club, not an athletics club.
Team members can be swapped in the team contact's davengo account (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, TeamRun). On race day, late entry is possible up to one hour before the start if places remain, at €160 per team (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, TeamRun) – compared with the €100 early-bird price (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, news of 10.07.2026).
Larger groups on the individual distances get 10 % off from 15 people; you register via the "Berlin läuft!" team at info@berlin-laeuft.de and can collect bibs together (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, prices). Still looking for a group in Berlin? Find the city's Lauftreffs (group runs) and run clubs under Running in Berlin.
Registration for 2027 has been open since 10 July 2026. Early-bird prices applied until 18 July 2026: €50 for 25 km, €45 for the half, €30 for 10 km, €25 for 5 km, €100 per TeamRun team and €15 for the kids' run (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, news of 10.07.2026). Current prices after the early-bird phase are shown in the davengo registration portal; the organiser's website doesn't list them. For the kids' run the tiers are published: €15 until 3 April 2027, then €20, for children born 2014 to 2022 (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, kids' run).
Two rules to know: there are no refunds, but you can transfer your place free of charge to someone else until late registration starts 14 days before the race, directly in your davengo account (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, prices). A money-back guarantee is available for €8 (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, prices). The entry package includes insurance, chip timing, bag storage, aid stations and a finisher medal, among other things (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, prices).
Bib pick-up is on Friday, 16 April, and Saturday, 17 April 2027 at Decathlon in the Rathaus Passagen, Rathausstraße 5, near Alexanderplatz. Saturday hours are 10 am to 7 pm; for Friday the participant info says 12 to 8 pm, the TeamRun and kids' pages 10 am to 8 pm (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin). Someone else can collect your bib with the number from your confirmation (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, prices).
To the start, take U2 or S5 to "Olympiastadion" and enter via the east gate with the Olympic rings. Your change of clothes goes in the bag handed out with your bib. Start blocks B1 to B4 are based on your declared finish time and open 15 minutes before the start; prams and buggies are not allowed on the course (source: berlin-laeuft.de/s25berlin, participant info).
The S 25 comes two weeks after the GENERALI BERLINER HALBMARATHON on 4 April 2027 – an alternative with open registration if the half-marathon lottery didn't work out. The same weekend, the Leipzig Marathon and the Uniper Düsseldorf Marathon take place, with Hamburg's marathon a week later.
