Half marathons 2027 in Germany: all dates at a glance

Every 2027 half marathon date we follow in our cities and regions, month by month – from Berlin and Frankfurt to small races over bridges and through forests, marked “date to follow” where the organizer hasn’t announced one yet.

When is which half marathon in 2027? This calendar lists the half marathons we follow in our cities and regions by date: the stand-alone half marathons in Berlin, Frankfurt and Mainz, the half marathons that run alongside a big city marathon, and smaller events through forests, over bridges and along rivers. The dates come from the organizers' websites, as of 18 October 2026. Where an organizer hasn't published the 2027 date yet, the event is listed further down under "Date to follow". The marathons have their own marathon calendar 2027.

January to March: winter series, forest and Rhine

The first half marathon of the year is part of a series. The Winterlaufserie of ASV Duisburg runs on three Saturdays in the Sportpark Duisburg. The long series grows from 10 to 15 kilometres and ends with the half marathon on 13 March 2027. To be ranked, you need to run all three dates (source: asv-winterlaufserie.de). The next day, Sunday 14 March, brings the Königsforst-Marathon on the border between Cologne and Bergisch Gladbach. Alongside the marathon and ultra there's a half marathon on hilly forest trails, and the event has been running since 1973 (source: koenigsforst-marathon.de).

A week later, two very different half marathons fall on the same day. The Frankfurter Mainova Halbmarathon starts and finishes at the Deutsche Bank Park and heads into the city forest, with the field capped at 10,500 runners (source: frankfurter-halbmarathon.de). In the Rhineland, KöZon 21 runs point to point from the Fühlinger See along the Rhine to Burg Friedestrom in Zons, and your bag is taken to the finish for you (source: koezon-21.de).

April: the month of the big fields

April has more half marathons than any other month, and many of them are part of a city marathon. The upside: the same crowds along the course, at half the distance.

4 April – GENERALI BERLINER HALBMARATHON. The biggest stand-alone half marathon on this list, with 37,355 entries in 2026 (source: generali-berliner-halbmarathon.de, 2026 review). If you want to start in 2027, read our article: the ballot is over, but charity places and tour operators are still an option. On the same day, Freiburg holds the half marathon at Mein Freiburg Marathon on a loop from the trade fair grounds (source: mein-freiburgmarathon.de).

11 April – Bonn, Hanover and Münster. At the Deutsche Post Marathon Bonn the half marathon is the biggest race of the day and starts in the morning, before the marathon. In 2026 all 12,500 half marathon places were gone by January (source: deutschepostmarathonbonn.de). At the ADAC Marathon Hannover the half marathon starts at the New Town Hall and passes the Maschsee lake (source: marathon-hannover.de). Smaller and more personal is the Lauf rund um den Allwetterzoo in Münster, starting and finishing at the Aasee lake, with a half marathon and a half marathon relay (source: wasser-freizeit.de).

18 April – four cities on one day. The Uniper Düsseldorf Marathon and the Leipzig Marathon both include a half marathon. In Munich, the Halbmarathon München runs on a traffic-free 5-kilometre loop in the Olympic Park (source: halbmarathon-muenchen.de), and in Augsburg the swa Straßenlauf through the Siebentischwald forest is the city's most important half marathon (source: tgva.de).

25 April – Hamburg and the Elbe. At the Haspa Marathon Hamburg the half marathon is already sold out for 2027 (source: haspa-marathon-hamburg.de). On the same day the VVO Oberelbe-Marathon follows the Elbe from Saxon Switzerland to Dresden, with the half marathon on part of the course (source: oberelbe-marathon.de).

May to July: Mainz, Stuttgart and the mountains

2 May – Gutenberg Halbmarathon and Rhein-Ruhr-Marathon. In Mainz, the biggest running event in Rhineland-Palatinate starts at the Electoral Palace, and since 2024 it has been a half marathon only, with no full marathon (source: halbmarathon-mainz.de). In Duisburg the half marathon runs as part of the Rhein-Ruhr-Marathon, also as a relay (source: rhein-ruhr-marathon.de).

23 May – Oberstdorfer Gebirgstäler-Halbmarathon. From the Nordic Centre the course heads up the Trettach valley to Spielmannsau and back via the Oytal valley: a half marathon with mountain views instead of a city skyline (source: gebirgstaelerhalbmarathon.ar-events.run).

June – three cities, three formats. The Stuttgart-Lauf on the weekend of 5/6 June in the NeckarPark is the city's biggest running event (source: stuttgart-lauf.de). In Düsseldorf, the Himmelgeister Brückenlauf on 12 June crosses two Rhine bridges (source: himmelgeister-brueckenlauf.de), and on 13 June Wuppertal runs the Schwebebahn-Lauf on the closed B7 road beneath its famous suspension railway (source: schwebebahn-lauf.de). On the weekend of 19/20 June the Sparkassen Metropolmarathon links Fürth and Nuremberg, with a half marathon (source: metropolmarathon.de).

July – evening in Bremen, morning in Munich. The Bremer Brückenlauf on 3 July starts in the evening and crosses the bridges over the Weser and the Werdersee (source: bremer-brueckenlauf.de). A day later, the half marathon at SportScheck RUN München starts early at the Siegestor and runs through the English Garden (source: sportscheck.com). On 24 July, the IWIS Königsschlösser Marathon in Füssen also has a half marathon (source: laufwochenende-fuessen.de).

August and September: dress rehearsals for autumn

If you're running an autumn marathon, a half marathon four to six weeks before is a popular test. These dates fit well.

8 August – Allgäu Panorama Marathon. The half marathon runs from Sonthofen along the Iller river (source: allgaeu-panorama-marathon.de). 22 August – TuS Hiltrup Halbmarathon in Münster, two laps passing through the stadium at Osttor (source: tus-hiltrup.de).

29 August – Kölner Halbmarathon. What makes it special: everyone starts at 10 a.m., and you choose your distance along the way: 7, 14, 21.1 or 28 kilometres through the city forest (source: koelner-halbmarathon.de). On the same day Hamburg holds the Blankeneser Heldenlauf along the Elbe (source: heldenlauf.de).

Early September – Dresden and Berlin. The DresdenHALF on the weekend of 4/5 September runs through the city centre and along the Elbe (source: dresden-half.com), and the BORSIG Halbmarathon on 5 September through Berlin-Reinickendorf (source: borsighalbmarathon.de).

12 September – Cologne and Kiel. The Brückenlauf of ASV Köln crosses six of Cologne's Rhine bridges on a certified course (source: asv-koeln.de). Up north, the Kiel.Lauf is the biggest running event in Schleswig-Holstein (source: kiellauf.de).

19 September – Hamburg and Karlsruhe. The PSD Bank Halbmarathon runs a loop through Wandsbek (source: halb-marathon.hamburg). At the Baden-Marathon in Karlsruhe the half marathon is a fixed part of the programme, and if you've entered the marathon you can switch to the half along the way (source: badenmarathon.de).

October: the half marathon at the autumn marathon

3 October – Generali Köln Marathon and swb-Marathon. In Cologne the half marathon starts in Deutz and finishes at the cathedral (source: generali-koeln-marathon.de). In Bremen all races start at the market square in front of the town hall (source: swb-marathon.com).

10 October – H/21-Halbmarathon and 3-Länder-Marathon. The H/21 in Hanover starts at 5 p.m., running into the dusk, and 2027 is its second edition (source: halbmarathon-hannover.de). On Lake Constance, the half marathon at the 3-Länder-Marathon heads towards Bregenz (source: sparkasse-3-laender-marathon.at).

17 October – Leipzig and Halle. The LEIPZIG RUN starts and finishes at the Monument to the Battle of the Nations (source: leipzigrun.maximalpuls.com). At the Mitteldeutscher Marathon only the marathon starts in Leipzig, while the half marathon takes place in Halle (source: mitteldeutscher-marathon.de).

31 October – DRESDEN-MARATHON. Dresden closes the year, with start and finish in the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion (source: dresden-marathon.com).

Planning tips for your half marathon year

The big fields fill up early. Hamburg's half marathon for April 2027 is already sold out, Bonn's half marathon places were gone by January in 2026, and Frankfurt caps its field at 10,500 (sources: haspa-marathon-hamburg.de, deutschepostmarathonbonn.de, frankfurter-halbmarathon.de). If you want to race in spring, it's best to sign up in autumn.

At a marathon or stand-alone? A city marathon gives you the biggest crowds, but expect packed start corrals and early start times. Stand-alone half marathons like those in Mainz and Berlin, or Cologne's Brückenlauf, are built entirely around the 21.1 kilometres.

Spring or autumn? For a half marathon in March or April you train through the winter, for one in September through the summer. Don't train alone. The long weekend runs are much easier in a group. You'll find running groups and run clubs in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Berlin and Hamburg, for example.
